I hope you are all doing well while juxtaposed to the world’s fuckery. I’m trying to carry on and I’m just very grateful to have the music as a life raft (which of course it’s always acted as;) and your support or curiosity (which is huge to me) . I send you all extra love to match the weight of these days. I realized today while doing some other promo stuff that I have never posted the actual album cover here as a proper post…and well, Band Camp Friday seems like the perfect day to immortalize the cover here on Instagram and let any newcomers to this page know that it’s available now in all forms physically …and it’s all up there on Bandcamp no matter which side of the ocean you reside on. This Sunday, the drones return to Reethaus with Music for Intersecting Planes, a preview of the forthcoming collaborative album by organist Kali Malone and cellist Leila Bordreuil, set for release on Stephen O’Malley’s label Ideologic Organ and curated for an advance listening experience by Soundwalk Collective. Leila Bordreuil (@variousartists_ ) is a French-American cellist, composer and sound artist based in Brooklyn. Her musical language stems from sonic explorations with improvisers Marina Rosenfeld, Bill Nace, Susan Alcorn, among others. She has performed at the likes of the Lincoln Center, the Whitney Museum, MoMA PS1 and the Barbican. Kali Malone (@hotscorpions ) is a composer and organist based between Stockholm and Paris. By evading expectations of duration and breadth, she opens up space for reflection and contemplation. She has presented work at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Philharmonie de Paris, Southbank Centre, Berghain and Primavera Sound, alongside many other stages and festivals. : [engl. version in comments] Bevor uns Ellen Arkbro in ihren Bann zieht, führt uns Lukas De Clerck in die Klangwelten des Aulos ein: Die antike griechische Flöte gibt es seit über einem Jahrtausend nicht mehr - zumindest, bis sich der belgische Musiker und Klangkünstler der Nachbildung dieses Instruments widmete. Mit seinem ganz gegenwärtigen Wissen und seiner Lust am Experimentieren schafft er eine Musik, die es so noch nie gab. Mal entlockt er dem Aulos ein mystisches, dunkles Dröhnen, das sich mit zunehmender Dauer zu einem Ozean aus Sound verdichtet. Allmählich lichtet sich die Melodie, die Pfeiftöne überlagern sich, reiben aneinander, was so sehr betört, das man fast Stimmen herauszuhören vermag. Dort knüpft De Clerck an und baut mit folkloristisch anmutenden Melodien eigenwillige Klangwelten von ungeahnter Größe.
