Buzzing back into the Glasgow scene with a sting. Beau You Know (BYK) is the heavier, nectar- thick alias of Glasgow DJ and producer Modat, focused on the tougher side of the underground through techno, electro and driving house.
While the Modat project leans into deeper grooves, BYK pushes things further into peak-time territory (full hive riots), raw drum machines, electro basslines and rolling techno rhythms designed for the deepest, darkest corners of the hive. The project reflects a love for darker club sounds and high-energy sets that keep momentum locked in until the honey runs dry.
Coming out of Glasgow’s underground scene, he’s spent years pollinating clubs and events across the UK, including respected venues such as The Berkeley Suite and The Mash House. His DJ sets move fluidly between gritty electro, classic techno influences and punchy house cuts, always with a focus on energy and groove.
When he isn’t behind the decks, he’s tending to Johnny Johnny Records & Rhythm Records, platforms dedicated to harvesting raw club sounds, cross pollinating the next generation of emerging artists.
With BYK, the focus is simple, harder rhythms, darker atmospheres and music designed for packed, sweaty dance floors.

The last couple of weeks since the release of JJW003 Music for the Contrarian have been a bit surreal. Hearing kind words from some of the longest-standing tastemakers in the game, people who’ve been leading the scene longer than most of us have had email addresses honestly means a lot. 🤌
