MIRROR, MIRROR ON THE WALL Mirror Work Installation Dre. Bansoa Sigam [curator of «WHEN I SEE ME»] Gallery Brulhart, 2026 «The mirror installation is a space to experience fully the introspective journey of this exhibition, seeing yourself whole, like the artists have done in their work. Look at yourself for at least one minute, seating like in Inside the Round Mirror of Bianca Batlle-Nguema, or standing up like Untitled I, Lyra Akissi Ouattara of Ianne Kenfack Kitio. Look at yourself, breathe deeply, then See yourself Write an affirmation starting with When I See Me, I am grateful because I am…. Complete the sentence or paragraph and repeat the affirmation three times looking deeply into your reflection in the mirror.» Dre. When I See Me Seeing myself again changed everything. This exhibition emerges from a deeply personal process… of pausing, observing, and learning to hold different emotional states without escaping them. Thanks to Bansoja Sigma @bansoasigam for creating this project and bringing us together, alongside Ianne @ia2ne to share this space. And to BruLart Gallery @gallerybrulhart for hosting and supporting this exhibition in such a meaningful way. Geneva is where all of this has taken form. Stillness. Floating. Folded. States, moments… ways of inhabiting myself. — I reimagine Black women, our bodies, our spaces, and the stories we live in. ##blackwomanartist #contemporaryart #identity #africanwomenartists . . .When I See Me Volver a verme lo cambió todo.

«WHEN I SEE ME» | Bianca Batlle-Nguema et Ianne Kenfack Kitio 📅 19 mars au 9 mai 2026 📍Gallery Brulhart : Rue des Vollandes 21, 1207 Genève Mercredi : 12h00 - 18h00 Jeudi : 12h00 - 20h00 Vendredi : 12h00 - 18h00 Samedi : 12h00 - 18h00 #gallerybrulhart #africancontemporaryart #africanwomenartists #lesfleursnesetaisentpas @colormygeneva @geneve_attractive @genevabucketlist @genevatourism @genevadiscovery @artgeneve

Exhibition launch and vernissage Wednesday 18 March! We are very pleased to announce our upcoming exhibition WHEN I SEE ME of Bianca Batlle-Nguema and Ianne Kenfack Kitia curated by Bansoa Sigam. «In this exhibition, the intimate work of painter Bianca Batlle-Nguema and Ianne Kenfack Kitio’s photographic meditations invite visitors on a journey inward: an invitation to truly see yourself. Through this process of introspection, we encounter the wide range of emotions that emerge when we see ourselves represented, when we recognize ourselves in someone else, and most importantly, when we dare to face our own reflection. What happens When I See Me? It is a different gaze than the one that oppresses, that scrutinizes, that objectifies, it is a gaze that recognizes, that is sincere, accepting.» #africancontemporary #womeninthearts #galeriesgeneve #gallerybrulhart

TAKE OVER ❤️‍🔥 Ianne Kenfack Kitio @ia2ne "A Pic 4 Us" is a staged self-portrait created in collaboration with Swiss-Rwandan artist Brutus Labiche, @brutuslabiche who contributed her vision to the styling of this piece. A Pic 4 Us reflects an ongoing exploration of representation, authorship, and the gaze in visual culture. The work engages in direct conversation with Jeff Wall’s A Picture for Women (1979) and Manet’s Un bar aux Folies Bergère (1882), in which, despite their central role, women do not control the production of the image or its visual codes. It seeks to shift a male-centered gaze by occupying both sides of the lens. The question of Blackness in A Pic 4 Us also intersects with cultural expectations, particularly within the African diaspora, where traditional values often place added pressure on how women present themselves in terms of modesty, beauty, and visibility. This image lives in that tension without trying to resolve it. The show is open until 1st of February, come by say hi <33 Installation view by @thomas_annaheim_lambert

🎉 2nd Prize – Prix Photoforum 2025 We are proud to announce that Ianne Kenfack Kitio has been awarded the second prize of this year’s Prix Photoforum with the work "A Pic 4 Us " The jury writes: “This work stood out for its bold composition and the confident use of photography to confront the viewer directly. With her own body and gaze, Ianne Kenfack challenges dominant visual representations of women, especially Black women, and asserts an image that is at once raw, vulnerable, and self-determined. The styling, posture, and direct gaze toward the viewer become a powerful statement on agency, collaboration, and the politics of representation.” Congratulations, Ianne, and thank you for sharing this powerful work with us. We would also like to thank this year’s jury once again for their thoughtful selection process: Anne Wyrsch (photo editor, Le Temps), Manuel Sigrist (curator, Photo Elysée), Katrin Sperry (curator and cultural scholar), and Patricia von Ah (artist and researcher). @a__ewyrsch @katrinsperry @patriciavonah @photo.elysee #PrixPhotoforum #IanneKenfack #ContemporaryPhotography #PhotographyAward #VisualIdentity #PhotoforumPasquart
