Decided to give the perennial steed a major upgrade, because the

The
@shimanoroad Ultegra Di2 ST-R8170 installed on its stablemate left a good aftertaste in terms of fit and ergonomics so we use them here to replace the old GRX Di2 shifters. They allow us to change gears from the left shifter, the feature we refuse not to retain in this build. They’re paired to
@shimanomtb latest XTR Di2 RD-M9250 wireless rear derailleur and
@garbaruk_components 11-52T cassette to provide a very welcomed extra low gear, especially since we used 12-speed compatible 40T
@sakracomponents Badik chainring mounted to
@eastoncycling EC90SL crankset. That is a stock crank spider, just so you know.
In the braking department we decided to keep the old RT-MT800 rotors and use Dura Ace BR-R9200 calipers to shed some weight while letting us stop on a dime and get a nickel back. That reminds us, the reason why we didn’t switch to Microspline freehub body setup was simply because we don’t want to mess with the current
@chriskingbuzz R45D Centerlock hubset, although now they are relaced to 30mm wide (internally)
@lightbicycle WG44 rims to spread the contact patches of the 42mm
@ultradynamico Cava Robusto tires even more. We racked significant miles on this extravagant mullet and to say that we’re satisfied will be an understatement. We will put this setup on an ultimate baptism by fire at
@bikesystem.id ’s #bsrides500 this friday.
