Anyone who ride in the dirt and gravel before gravel bike was a household marketing term will remember the @surlybikes Straggler name. Here’s its latest incarnation, trading quick release dropouts, IS brake caliper mounts, and straight 34mm headtube with thru-axle dropouts, flat caliper mounts, and tapered-fork-ready 44mm headtube. There are so much more than that, too. With the frame sourced from @thebikeshopbali we’ve added a twist to this build with @velocicycle No.11 carbon fork mounted through @whiteind ZS44/EC44 headset and abandoned the shift cables altogether with @rideshimano GRX RX825 paired to XTR M9250 rear derailleur. A single @sakra_components Badik chainring paired to GRX RX820 crank arms completed the drivetrain setup. We personally love this build for its subtleness; no loud brandings, over the top expensive components, or flashy colour coordination all around. When it comes to making a bicycle completely your own, nothing beats having a custom frame made specifically for you. This @acelanebikes Eclair is a manifestation of the owner’s ideals, blending lightweight and robust @columbus_official Zona tubing to cope with his physique and simple practicality as apparent on the use of rim brakes and ample tire clearance to put mudguards on. But it’s not all rainbows and butterflies though; a couple months prior this bicycle was involved in a traffic accident that severe enough to have the frame sent back to Jogja for repair. While waiting for the frame to return, we teamed up with the owner to come up with the next iteration of the bicycle. A rebirth, if you will, in the form of @rideshimano Ultegra Di2 groupset swap and a pair of carbon rims to replace the tacoed alloys, and topped off with beautiful paintwork from @sagalaherangchrome . Eleven days of torrential downpour into the new year, we finally got a sliver of sunshine to snap one of our last builds of 2025. The owner of the Carizzo Select we featured last year decided to have his frame repainted and then sent to us to have the whole groupset swapped with @sramroad Force E1 taken off his now-retired carbon race rig. Along with different groupset and fresh colour scheme, the @stinnerframeworks now also sports @zippspeed SL80 race carbon dropbar, @envecomposites road stem, @elileeconcept X310 crankset with @carbon_ti rings, and @lightbicycle AR465 rims laced to Matte Black/Gold R45D hubset that matched to the @chriskingbuzz seatclamp, InSet7 headset, and ThreadFit 24 bottom bracket. 📷: @ammaramir ✏️: @ranggapanji #HBSxPancalen

Decided to give the perennial steed a major upgrade, because the @legorcicli LWTUA is both here for a good time and a long run. The @shimanoroad Ultegra Di2 ST-R8170 installed on its stablemate left a good aftertaste in terms of fit and ergonomics so we use them here to replace the old GRX Di2 shifters. They allow us to change gears from the left shifter, the feature we refuse not to retain in this build. They’re paired to @shimanomtb latest XTR Di2 RD-M9250 wireless rear derailleur and @garbaruk_components 11-52T cassette to provide a very welcomed extra low gear, especially since we used 12-speed compatible 40T @sakracomponents Badik chainring mounted to @eastoncycling EC90SL crankset. That is a stock crank spider, just so you know. In the braking department we decided to keep the old RT-MT800 rotors and use Dura Ace BR-R9200 calipers to shed some weight while letting us stop on a dime and get a nickel back. That reminds us, the reason why we didn’t switch to Microspline freehub body setup was simply because we don’t want to mess with the current @chriskingbuzz R45D Centerlock hubset, although now they are relaced to 30mm wide (internally) @lightbicycle WG44 rims to spread the contact patches of the 42mm @ultradynamico Cava Robusto tires even more. We racked significant miles on this extravagant mullet and to say that we’re satisfied will be an understatement. In the world where everyone’s trying to stand out among the crowd, we believe that whispers speak louder than shouts. Granted, as everyone reading this we like to see high spec bicycle builds—more so when they’re going out through our door—but it’s the subtle builds that thoroughly reflects the owner’s personalities that really get us going. Especially the builds we work on for our close friends and riding buddies; we aspire for the smile on their faces everytime we see them ride. We brought you a 2023 Specialized S-Works Crux, but with a twist: it featured @srammtb XX Eagle Transmission mounted on custom full mount conversion kit created by @joshie_t and @weitoobored , @cycleprojectstore ’s very own mad scientists.
