WOW! “Thank You”, our fourth studio album is released today!
A complete rollercoaster of an album to make; COVID, my dad passing away and hearing problems - this album has been my therapy.
We started at
@tompeters_producer wonderful Trapdoor Studios… Bowling, M&S meal deals and some of the most HEAVY sounds we have ever recorded, a treat to spend a few days in the Liverpool Travelodge with Al Gunby and Jim Parmley and record drums and percussion together for the first time! Tom is a hero of ours so an absolute pleasure to be with him!
I took a trip down to Redhill to the stunning
@rosewoodmusicuk to record marimba, vibraphone and timpani. Saw the biggest selection of mallets and snare drums I’ve seen in my life - thank you for Seb Truman and Edward Scull for having me!
The warm, velvety tones of Pete Harvey were recorded at Pumpkinfield in Perth. Viola was recorded remotely (for the first time!) in Ian Anderson’s flat in Berlin and Violins were recorded in a wee bit of a rush (Sorry!) by Amelia Conway-Jones in
@thedairystudios in London, where we also recorded vocals - thank you Caroline Lyons!
Nick Etheridge and Thom Allard recorded Tuba, Cimbasso and French Horn at Orinicco Complex, London. On the second day a torrential downpour flooded the ironically named “Pool Recording Studio” were we rushed to save the vintage gear from water damage. Trumpets were recorded by Simon Dobson and Gordon Clarke in New Cut Studios, Bristol and The Space, Glasgow.
Gordon Clarke also recorded piano at his mums house in Kilsyth (shout out ironing board studios!) where he tirelessly recorded piano phase piece “Patchwork” and possibly lost his mind in the process! Accordion recorded at lovely garden studio by Susanne Bell.
Special thanks to Paul Savage
@chem19studio for additional production, words of wisdom and way to much coffee.
Album mastered by Alan Douches at
@westwestsidemusic , NY
This album is dedicated to Alan Russell; for all you gave and taught me, Thank You.
