Thursday, December 18th marked the end of my first semester teaching. I couldn’t be happier that it was at my alma mater, Cooper Union.
I’m so proud of my students. For sticking with me through fifteen 4-hour long classes, for engaging with my lectures, for growing, and especially for staying until 10:00PM—whew.
Interactive Design Concepts is a class I describe as a “charcuterie board of tech related items” where I introduce students to a nauseatingly wide variety of code-based techniques they can use in an artistic practice. Including: making deepfakes, coding generative art, creating web-based tools, and running AI locally—without data centers. We explored the conceptuality of code, technology, and the web as mediums on their own or as paired with traditional art making.
As the semester progressed, I saw my students climb the learning curve with hesitation, then confidence. Their work evolved and I felt thrilled for their successes. I could not have asked for a better group of driven young artists and practitioners. I am grateful for the privilege and challenge to have taught students from all three schools at Cooper Union, reminding me of the importance of interdisciplinary study.
We’re in a time of disruption, where technology and artificial intelligence encroach on our lives in increasingly drastic ways. I aimed to give my students the foundation to create art with new technology while understanding how to use code and AI responsibly. I’m thrilled with what this small but mighty group of students accomplished in such a short time…aaaannd it was fun!

New tees are made from recycled fabric, dyed, sewn, and laser cut in-house. Color tones may vary from product to product due to different original colors😼
One of my favourite projects I collaborated on with @newworldhq (formerly A—B) was this bespoke microsite for @equalityfund . We created a bilingual annual report, highlighting their incredible wins and grantee partners. It won a Reed award for Best Microsite 🏆
