Our craft has become a passport to worlds and cultures this time, it’s taken us to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Kuba look is more than a dress; it is a reclamation of heritage, artistry, and liberation. For her wedding, Linamarie chose to return to the roots of her people, the Congolese, by embracing raffia and Kuba cloth textiles once worn with pride long before colonial rule sought to redefine identity through dress.
We sculpted woven raffia into architectural curves, balanced with crocheted raffia adorned with delicate flowers and intricate beadwork, revealing the fabric’s versatility as both structural and fluid. The result: a silhouette that speaks boldly of her essence unapologetic and regal, honoring her figure while telling history her way.
