The metal rill, panels and pavilion structure has been fabricated by @hotmetalengineering and is now being assembled on site. Designer @thelandscapetailor with Jamie and the Team spent some time this weekend pre-building the structure for the RHS Chelsea @killikandco ‘A Seed in Time’ Show Garden. @hotmetalengineering has fabricated the metal framework. It’s being covered in MEDITE EXTERIOR MDF, supplied by @meditesmartply - durable panels which are FSC certified and CARB2 compliant. The pieces have been pre-cut by @wup.doodle making it easy for the Team to work with. The structure will be finished off on site at the Chelsea showground, when it receives a @clayworksclayplasters render, which will be applied by @guyvalentineltd We are very excited to show you the next part of the structure’s journey. #RHSChelsea #KillikAndCo #SustainableGardening #sustainability

When designing the detail elements for the @boodles Raindance Garden I wanted to pay homage to Boodles Director of Design, Rebecca Hawkin’s original and new Raindance jewellery collection whilst also introducing some new designs! In collaboration with @hotmetalengineering metal structures and features were developed and produced in various finishes to represent metals and motifs in the @boodles jewellery. Gemstone colours were represented by resin inserts set within the uprights of the pavilion - produced by @alanwilliams_design these elements also acted as light fittings! Mission objective for the @boodles Raindance Garden Team: install a 1700mm diameter piece of Brandy Crag stone, weighing approximately 200kg and 25mm thick on the top of the Raindance water feature. Another great day on the @boodles Raindance Garden for @catherinemacdonalddesign and the Team. Watch as they assemble the Raindance Pavillion. The metal uprights for this structure are both strong but delicate in style, inspired by the new necklace in the jewellery collection. The garden showcases ideas for rainwater capture, such as the fluted roof of the Pavillion, which channels rainwater into a circular rill at its base. A cheeky glimpse into a few never to be seen details! Just take a moment to consider the amount of work involved and the layers of people involved, starting with design detailing this garden designed by @catherinemacdonalddesign of @landformuk for the client Boodles @boodles hours of working out the dimensions and joints, include false joints,discussion with fabricators and the possibilities,,issues of the design,in this case the amazing Toby @hotmetalengineering who then needs to accurately plot Catherine’s detailing ( on CAD ) to the beautiful paving which is Cumbrian slate @burlingtonstone they then need to grade the stone and Cut it using CAD software to make sure it’s plotted to perfection, then to the skilled craftsmen who need to handle and carefully lay Teams from @gadd_brothers headed up by Will @william_gadd supported by AAron and team from Northern Ireland @lawnandborderlandscapes one mistake, one over tap and the ramifications are terrifying ! Coupled with the running of services / water feeds up the supports mean that in just this one critical piece of the jigsaw, there is days and days of pre show work for a huge team, sadly the media never looks nor seem interested in the detail or craftsmanship which never fails to humble me!
