On site @the_rhs Chelsea Flower Show 🍃
We’ve been so busy we’ve barely had a moment to breathe - but what a reason to be busy!
This year we’re incredibly proud to be working on not one but three Chelsea gardens, each one completely different, each one an exciting challenge in its own right.
This photo is of our brilliant team and some behind-the-scenes shots from site last Tuesday - more updates on these three wonderful gardens coming soon.
Guy also had the opportunity to lend some advice on working with the @clayworksclayplasters product to the @landformuk team on the @boodles garden, designed by @catherinemacdonalddesign
Stay tuned - plenty more photos of the site progress to come. 🌱

Introducing our new mini series, The Project Giving Back Garden, featuring the designer, James Basson. 🌿
Over the coming months, we will be documenting the journey of The Project Giving Back Garden - from concept through to relocation. Celebrating 5 years of Project Giving Back, the garden presents a dramatic, other-worldly landscape never before seen at @the_rhs Chelsea Flower Show.
Stay tuned and follow the journey. 💚

These photos capture some of the textures and details that emerge during process - when the clay is still soft and every line and contour is shaped by hand.
What is usually a purely functional element of the building became something tactile and expressive.
This 14m2 relief map of Geneva at UBP HQ in London was built by hand using five layers of clay plaster applied over the riser doors.
The clay plaster adds an extra mineral layer to the riser doors, which already serve an important safety role.
Projects like this are about patience, timing and working closely with the materials as each layer begins to set. Completed during three days, it was a demanding but rewarding process, and a pleasure to see the surface gradually come to life.

A few more moments from our Easter weekend project at UBP HQ in London.
This installation is a 14m2 relief map of Geneva, carefully shaped from five layers of clay plaster over the riser doors. Layer by layer, the surface gradually transformed into a textured, three-dimensional mural.
We started on Saturday and these photos were taken on Easter Monday when the upper layer was still drying.
Riser doors usually remain unnoticed, quietly performing an important safety role by providing up to 120 minutes of fire protection. By applying clay plaster, we were able to turn this functional element into a tactile architectural feature while also adding additional fire-resistant mineral layers.
Projects like this are always intense but incredibly rewarding - especially when art, craft, and function come together in one surface.

A little glimpse of what we were working on over the the Easter weekend…
At UBP HQ in London we created a 14m2 multilayered clay map of Geneva, built up from five layers of clay plaster over the riser doors. What is usually a purely functional surface became a textured, three-dimensional wall.
We started on Saturday and these photos were taken on Easter Monday - the top clay layer still wet and slowly drying.
Riser doors are known as the silent protectors of buildings, providing up to 120 minutes of fire protection. Adding clay plaster not only allowed us to create this relief map, but it also adds an extra protective layer, as clay is naturally non-combustible and fire-resistant.
It was a challenging but very satisfying project to bring to life in such a short time.
Grateful for the opportunity and the trust to create something both functional and artistic.

It was great working at the Heal’s Building in London where we applied a Clayworks’ Smooth finish to the reception desk and created a Rammed Earth finish for the feature wall behind it.
One of the highlights was carving the client’s debossed logo into the Rammed Earth surface. Hope you like it.
“We are very happy with the work you have done at Heal’s for FQM. They are thrilled with the artwork too,” Toby Knights, @wearewhitepaper Project Manager

Loved working at the Heal’s Building in London earlier this year! We applied @clayworksclayplasters finishes to the reception desk and feature walls, and had great fun carving the client’s logo into the rammed earth finish.
