✨ Glossop – a town woven together through making, music and folklore 🧵 On Saturday, Glossop felt like stepping into a living storybook. The day began with the awakening of the Lady of the Loom – weaving her way through Norfolk Square, greeting makers, musicians and visitors as the town came to life around her. And from that moment, threads appeared everywhere. In hands weaving. In scraps of fabric transformed into creatures and celebration flags. In cups of tea shared beside craft tables while music drifted across the square. The Springtime Makers Market was full of discovery, while upstairs the Arkane Collective exhibition offered a quieter moment of reflection. Nearby, The Makory welcomed visitors on board for hands-on making inspired by Glossop’s rich textile heritage. At the Partington Theatre, stories drifted between folklore, film and memory. Thingamabob brought glorious chaos and laughter to the streets, while Val & Friends created a living room where strangers became neighbours for a while. Then came the rain! But we were not ready to leave. The music grew louder inside the Market Hall. Children danced. Makers kept making. Conversations carried on. The rain didn’t stop the festival – it became part of it. By the time the Lady of the Loom returned for the Celebration Parade, Glossop felt transformed. Not just busy, but connected. Full of shared stories, small moments and unexpected encounters. We are very excited to present our Beltane inspired exhibition. @highpeakcomarts have been super generous in providing a space for us to craft an exhibition of talented Glossop based artists. Our show will run for one day only so make sure you come and see us upstairs @glossopmarkethall as part of the @derbyshiremakes Festival. Saturday 9th May 11-5pm @tessgee_ and I will be setting up a free family friendly workshop for you to take part in. EXHIBITION ANNOUNCEMENT 📣 we have now installed the photography exhibition entitled Spring which is part of @derbyshiremakes Glossop Hub. During February we ran workshops and this gave photographers the opportunity to be considered for the exhibition based on the workshop skills they had gained. Exhibiting alongside professional photographers, artists and students. We had such a lovely session at Art Club today creating our very own dream sticks – Wish & a Swish! ✨ This special project was in collaboration with @derbyshiremakes and @highpeakcomarts and the creativity, imagination, and care the children put into their work was just beautiful to see. Every stick tells its own little story 💫 There are lots of exciting events happening next Saturday 9th May in Glossop, why not pop along to the parade with your dream sticks and join in the fun?
