《 SOUND GOOD CONCERT 》# 1 Berenguel @berenguel_____ (aka Professor Bamba) is an interdisciplinary sound artist and performer based in Lisbon, Portugal, whose practice explores improvisational music, electroacoustic processes, audio essays, and performance. In collaboration with Portuguese violinist and visual artist Maria Gorgel @m.gorgelreaes.p , he presents Hastily Written Gestures, (Un) Rotten Textures 19’, a work that unfolds through improvised layering of brimming sound textures - through guitar and granular processing intertwined with violin lines - forming an abstract body of sound shaped by directional mid-range contrasts. Conceptually, it catalyzes a search for communal and individual identity with unrealised musical energy, using improvisation and deep-listening practices to pursue purpose, meaning, and momentum. sleepy…, 2025 Aluminum, durational sound recording of a refrigerator captured via DIY contact microphone, magnets, polycarbonate sheets, resonant speakers, steel, and used refrigerator magnets Variable dimensions, Sound duration continuous ‘Sleepy…’ is a sound installation that explores dissociation through the perception of distance. It presents a low hums recorded from household appliances using DIY contact microphones, it mixed bits of coldness and cognitive dissonance, its stability assembled into an invisible anchor of comfort. The work remains elusive, yet it numbs the unease attachments to isolation and desire, washing out boundaries between familiarity and abstract. The installation is supported by magnets revealing its physical framework and the temporal conditions shaped by contemporary society. Picking among one among millions of duplicate appliances, your chosen appliances wear gradually intertwines with personal life. It sustains daily consumption while requiring your continuous care and maintenance, linking individual labor to the rhythms of technological dependence.

- Tangential nature 偏離本質 2024 Charcoal, cold wax, colored pencil, oil, pencil on cotton, pinned on wooden crosses A set of 2: 50 x 60 cm, 37 x 50 cm - Breaking free behind the canvas, the wooden bars split and reform into intersecting shapes that cling to the wall. Like a treasure map unfolding in dimensions, they scatter across the hidden points on the gridded net like dashed lines—carrying the linear order while going beyond it. Much like the vacancies in dashed lines, shifting between search and calculation, extending tentatively while holding a moment of await. These two paintings are layers detached from narrative objectives, woven into the colors through points, lines, and planes. The abstract brushstrokes are born from intuition, where one is asked to immerse deeply in the environment to make intuitive decisions, thus capturing the essence of sounds radiating in all directions away. Drifting sounds await to be contained, with the process of drawing almost mirroring a reverent prayer: only through patient waiting in the unreserved exposure, until achieving inner balance through attentive external listening, that the last thoughts be recalled. The self acts as a vessel where there's a back-and-forth on the roles of creators and observers, diminishing recognition of forms and shapes until a shape is formed. Careful consideration to untangle the complexities, to select and order, to question, and to embrace – all of these subtle methods sculpt the spatiality of sound. 木條從畫布背後掙脫,分裂,重組成交叉的形狀。虛線般排列,試探又計算;又正如虛線,延伸卻有所保留;交叉的十字撒網般分散在隱藏的點上,保持卻又超越本應有的秩序。 畫作主要以線條附於顏色上產生脫離意象上的點,線,面。 捉摸不定的筆觸模擬聲音與空間的縱橫走向,直覺性的判斷需沈浸於漫長的等待之中。游離的聲音,散落的邊框——繪畫甚似虔誠的禱告:毫無保留的曝光後,唯有耐心地等候自我與終結的同步。只是主體是「我」作為一個暫時的空間,在這裡,我與造物者的角色輪流交替,我等待事情被我聽見,我讓聽見的事情被發生。來回比劃以模糊書寫的肌肉記憶,甚至企圖混和一點一線的認知。保持這種恆久的平衡需要花心思去整理複雜的關係:整列,紀錄,分離,重組,放置,選擇,質疑和接受,都是旁敲側擊的方法來雕塑聲音的空間。 Photos. - Index 引 2024 Charcoal powder, resin, spray, stepper motor Size Variable - This work begins with a series of drawings that combine with Chinese writing systems and skeletal elements. Exploring from the imprints of historical civilizations and cultures, the sealed geometric structures on paper are dismantled and reassembled, a three-dimensional shape is sculpted. Above the charcoal powder, the installation rotates slowly, subtly unveiling a gradual cycle through the interplay of textures and colors, while passively inviting viewers into a controlled setting. In this boundless sense of distance, whether void or solid, extending forward or branching into new pathways—it represents an ongoing expansion without limitations. 作品概念是一系列由中文書寫系統和骸骨輪廓結合而成的繪畫開始。從歷史文明與文化烙印之中探索,把紙本上被封印著的幾何架構,分拆又重建,延伸或互相接觸,鍥合而成一個立體體系。裝置在碳粉的堆砌之上緩慢自轉,與物料的質感和遺下的顏色都隱約透露出漸變的循環,被動地邀請著觀者進入被受控制的環境下,感受物理空間凝結在正當爆發的一刻。這個分明的距離感都實驗著每種線條依附在三維空間中所擔當的角色:虛或實,都會再次映現,黑白與正負,都在這一點開始新的方向或繼續。 Photos. - Loops 迴旋 2024 Cassette tape loops, filter paper, LED tube, sounds (1 minute and 1 minute 30 seconds; continuous play) A set of 2: 27 x 15 cm each - Bathing under the crimson glow, you move in orbits where undulating sounds weave, intertwine, and melt away. Each lapse of running, every up and downs of footsteps, every in and out of breaths, slices and setting the fleeting moments of time in order of chaos, continuously propelling the coherence of existence. Painfulness is not the only pursuit in self-destructive acts, it is also accompanied alongside a stillness of the absolute pause—where the sense of clarity in the realm of ambiguity, awakens the desires of peeking into our deepest selves. This is far more convincing than being infringed upon by the forceful fears of uncertainty. 作品存在於紅光籠罩著整個半開放的空間,連綿起伏的聲音在軌道中環繞、交織、消融。一圈圈的步跑,隨著腳步一起一落、一呼一吸,切割並排列著時間的片刻動態,持續地推進著現在的連貫性。自毀性的行為時常將痛苦視為終結,因為痛苦伴隨而來的是暫時的消停。在曖昧不清的夢與境之間中,這種清晰的感官享受窺視著慾望死灰復燃的滿足感,相比起意識被恐懼入侵的後知後覺更為痛快。 Photos.
