Get @reshare_app@binq_windows The world is increasingly seeking longevity, sustainability, and authenticity in 2026. Collectively, we are drawn to spaces that stand the test of time—those to be lived in for generations and reflect a meaningful approach. So if you are planning to start a new-build project this year, you need to take a closer look at the Grass Tree House design by SoS Architects (@sosarchitects ). We believe it offers great inspiration for making a place we love waking up in and coming home to. Once cleared for deer farming, the paddock presented a rare opportunity to build within an expansive natural setting. The house is gently positioned within a sweeping valley view and an extraordinary proliferation of grass trees. Rather than asserting itself upon the bush landscape, the architecture feels embedded within it. The house extends along an east–west axis, allowing every bedroom and the primary living areas to receive generous northern sunlight while framing scenic views toward Mount Macedon and Mount Towrong. Tailored to the family’s lifestyle and fondness for gathering, the indoor kitchen, dining, and living spaces open seamlessly to the outdoor dining, lawn, and pool. As the house is located in a colder climate, it thoughtfully uses passive solar orientation, #BINQ Australian-made high-performance timber double-glazed windows and doors, and thermal mass in the concrete slab to maintain comfortable temperatures year-round—a real combination when aesthetics meet performance. Architect: SoS Architects @sosarchitects Interiors: Studio Tom @studiotomdesign Builder: Hardwick Build Co @hardwickbuildco Engineer: FMG Engineering @fmg_engineering Landscape: Sam Crawford Landscape Design @samcrawford_design Photography: Marnie Hawson @marniehawson Styling: Belle Bright Project @bellebrightproject #SustainableArchitecture #EnvironmentallyFriendly —— 📣 Follow us @binq_windows for more ✉️ Subscribe to us to get the latest news 🔗Learn More .au/

Posted @withregram@est_living WHERE ARCHITECTS LIVE | Architect Adam Kane’s Secluded Daylesford Retreat The ‘Grey House’ is conceived as a place to switch off on weekends. “I envisioned the home as the opposite of chaos and distraction, where everything has its place,” Kane says. “Pairing it back to one materiality and colour palette really creates this sense of introspection.” When asked how he’s designed a home that’s minimal but not sterile, Kane attributes this to the floor plan and circulation. “It’s a small floorplan, but the way you can meander through the house, instead of having one big open plan glass box, means that each zone has its own view and atmosphere,” he says. A window lies at the end of every hallway and space, allowing the green outlook to play the role of a constantly changing artwork. “Window frames are embedded to accentuate the view – a detail we are now using in new projects,” Kane says. “The natural light also creates a beautiful shimmer on the adjoining walls, ceiling and floor,” he adds. Read more about the ‘Grey House’ inside our latest issue of est magazine.
