A food performance on
Sunday, 16 March between 16-19h!

HakkaMoon explores the hidden world of soil microorganisms to emphasise their essential role in food production. They imagine a harmonious symbiosis between humans and archaea, actinomycetes, algae, protozoa, bacteria by responding with the confident ritual of eating together.
In dialogue with participants, HakkaMoon questions the Western food model through stories and dishes – the conventional agricultural structure of massive monocultures, pesticides and ever-deteriorating soil health – and contrasts it with other models.
All ingredients are locally sourced and used in a circular process.

A series of distinct beverages developed from flowers and plants will also be served on the collectively made embroidered table cloth from the 2 day GROWTH embroidery workshop led by @helena_her_

In the context of the symposium “What remains of the ‘friendship between peoples’?”, the artistic lunch performance ‘Plates of Unity’ by HakkaMoon took place. ‘Plates of Unity’ is an intervention that envisions a peaceful, decolonial approach to international friendship through food.
HakkaMoon is an artist collective composed of designer and artist Miriam Neubauer and chef James Hoi Yeung Chan. Their practice focuses on the intersection of art, biology, and food with a planetary perspective.
The symposium of the Prater Galerie “What remains of the ‘friendship between peoples’?” took place in the frame of Kyiv Perennial 2024 @kyivbiennial on the 1st of June 2024 in Berlin. Kyiv Perennial 2024 is a cooperation between the Visual Culture Research Center, neue Gesellschaft für bildende Kunst @ngbk_berlin and the Kulturstiftung des Bundes (German Federal Cultural Foundation) @kulturstiftungdesbundes , together with Between Bridges @betweenbridgesfoundation and the municipal Prater Galerie. The Kulturstiftung des Bundes is funded by the Beauftragte der Bundesregierung für Kultur und Medien (Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media). Prater Galerie is a municipal organisation of the Berlin-Pankow District Council.

Our first artistic debate for the project “Evolution of ketchup” is about understanding ketchup as a global phenomenon by being universally used in various countries and even in space. To gain a deeper comprehension of it’s magic, we developed an approach to disentangle the origins of ketchup and evolve it to a contemporary convergence.

I cannot express how excited I am to inaugurate the wok unit on Sunday 20.6.21 with a working progress complex dish which incorporates the air element including Wok Hei, air quality ingredients and fermented air quality ingredients.
The wok unit is basically a high powered gas wok in a standalone unit which could potentially replace the standard home oven! Looking forward to collaborating with @wirwir who will set up the workshop with @vanbolementzel to build the wok unit.

An unforgettable experience collaborating and co-designing the menu with @dukhee_ for a Down to Earth artistic dinner. Involving cooking food buried in the ground and on open fires served to @dukhee_ ‚s legendary edible sculpture Into the Wild - filled with edible plants and herbs.
