Fantastic to hear @groundworkclm Senior Conservation Officer Ian Jones and volunteer Dee talking about @growspeke on @bbcmerseyside this morning 🎙️💚
On #NationalGardeningDay, they shared with @kevduala how this incredible project has transformed not just a once-neglected piece of land… but people’s lives too.
Hearing Dee speak about the impact Grow Speke has had on her life was truly inspiring. And the best part? That same transformation could be waiting for you.

A huge thank you to @fothergillsuk UK who have donated 11,000 food and flower seeds to @groundwork_uk 's local community hub and garden projects across the UK.
Today a fantastic team of volunteers and staff supported by the amazing Scouse Flowerhouse have been sowing some of the wild flowers seeds kindly donated by Fothergills at @growspeke
It's all part of an amazing project to create a rich biodiverse habitat for both flora and fauna and wildlife on the site.

Construction of the Pergola and eventual composite decking flooring has begun at Grow Speke👍. A special thanks to @Morris &Spottiswood who kindly donated funds to enable the purchase of timber, composite decking and polycarbonate roofing.
A site project which involves both staff and volunteers to engage, which will, when finished provide a salubrious outside seating area for visitors, staff and volunteers. Fabulous 👍👌🌼🌻🌞 ☕️#wellbeing #Community.
The countdown to Spring is officially on! 🌷
Here's some great ideas from the Grow Blackpool team for things you can make a start on in the garden:
Pruning apple, pear trees and any deciduous hedges.
It’s a good time to clean gardening tools!
🐞tidy and weed the borders on nicer days, but leave the heads on perennials as it’s still very cold. You can have lots of beneficial insects overwintering in them.
You can buy bare rooted trees and plant them.
🌱Forcing rhubarb with a pot or a bucket encourages tender stems.
🐦⬛Make sure your bird feeders are super clean and top them up with seed. It’s still cold for the little ones.
🌺You can start some sweet peas seeds off and broad beans and onions in a cold greenhouse or cold frame.
🌶️If you have a heated bench or warm window ledge you could sow chilies and peppers.
🌳Spring will be here before we know it!
