Nelson’s good days tend to be ours too. This sweet boy deserves a life of river dips with his favorite ball, and we’re going to do our best to make sure he gets it.

To my Bend community - on April 15th, I'm bringing people together for something that means a lot to me. I'll be screening @thelifewehavefilm , an award-winning short film about my friend Rob Shaver, who ran at least a mile every single day for over 1,100 days through a terminal cancer diagnosis. Then we'll head out for a community & no-drop 5K together. We'll regroup at @the_grove_bend to hang, eat, and raffle off some prizes you'll be stoked on. All donations go directly to the American Cancer Society as I train for the Berlin Marathon this fall. Every run, every moment of pain or doubt or pure happiness is dedicated to people like Rob who can no longer move in ways that once brought them joy. Free to attend. Suggested $15 donation entry for the film. RSVP and raffle tickets at the link in bio.

Two years of @thetrailkooks Short Kooks! Been feeling the creativity of running more, so the camera came out to play this morning to celebrate. I don’t think @stephwrighttt and I realized what we were signing up for aside from drinking coffee with our friends every Tuesday morning. We wanted to start running but didn’t feel confident in our ability for a speedy six miles every week. So, we started a chiller two mile group one snowy March morning as a way to move and connect with friends. Two years in, we’ve got a little cohort of short kooks either getting in to running, training for longer races, or looking for an excuse to drink coffee with friends like we were. Thankful for this little group and everyone that showed up in the rain, snow, darkness, and heat over the years!

Our little hometown run club, @thetrailkooks . Running has become a core part of our life here and I’m not mad about it.

It’s not very often I share work on my personal feed anymore. Most days, my Pentax 67 is a memory grabber for summer days at the river with our dog. When @pattiegonia asked if I could use @kodakprofessional as the primary medium for capturing images for ā€˜Have You Considered’ with @imogenheap , I’d be lying if I wasn’t the slightest bit nervous. I love this camera, I’ve also learned its flaws the hard way. 14 rolls and many tangled camera straps later, I’m SO proud of how these images turned out. Between complex sets and camera moves, wind and dangling ropes, or scrambling over rocks to find the best vantage point, these images reflect the hard work and dedication put forth by everyone over four days of production. Most of the scans are Portra 400 and Gold 200 converted to B&W. The last three images are digital but I love them too much not share 🫢

We’re proud and honored to share THE LIFE WE HAVE, For Your Consideration for Best Documentary Short. Rob has a deep desire to help those navigating illness, those looking for inspiration, and those who need a mirror of hope and perspective. Thank you to the Shaver family, @rei Co-op Studios, and everyone who’s watched, shared, and held this film with us. In the words of Rob, ā€œIt’s about so much more than just running. It’s literally just a choice daily. To live deeply and thoroughly and with beautiful effort.ā€

Six months of being a very good boy. Some might say the best boy, but we’re biased.

Nostalgia is a word @stephwrighttt and I have been throwing around lately to describe how we feel a year after this perfect day. Part bliss, part joy, part grief, and overall just missing the days of waking up in this little cove knowing that we’ll get to spend the days with 30 of our best friends in New Zealand. Our first year of marriage has absolutely flown by but I’m so thankful to look back at photos like this and vividly feel the laughs, the abundance of tears, the little hand squeezes to remind ourselves that it’s our wedding day, and how special it was to celebrate with this group of people. I would do it all again in a heartbeat and not change a single thing. šŸ“· @baylymoore

Nelson and his first snowstorm a few weeks back. He may get cold easily and run up to our feet for warmth, but this boy loves romping around out there. I’ve made it a priority to try and photograph these puppy days exclusively on @kodakprofessional 120mm film. Not the cheapest of hobbies, but that film latitude certainly helps when it comes to exposing for a black dog :)

One week of Nelson. Last Friday, we became proud new parents to this good sweet boy. Named after one of our favorite areas in New Zealand, Nelson is an 8-week old American Black Lab. We’ve dreamt of having a pup of our own one day and after meeting a breeder nearby, timing seemed to work out and we couldn’t say no. We can’t wait to watch this little monkey grow and experience the world alongside us. Until then, we’ll keep carrying him on walks and let him snooze in our arms and tolerate all the little knuckle bites he loves to give.

After a year of dreaming and scheming and last minute pivots thanks to a cyclone, we did it. Tucked into this little cove alongside 37 of our favorite people, we cried and laughed and exchanged vows and made promises to each other to continue building our lives together. This day is hard to encapsulate into words because things turned out better than we had hoped. Views were spectacular, food was 10/10, weather was perfect, and it solidified that the company we keep is the community of our dreams. Our wedding week and friend-filled honeymoon is over but SHEESH we will be in awe of this time for the rest of our life. šŸ“· @baylymoore
