I mean, I know Super8 cops some flack for being a bit unpredictable sometimes (esp compared to it's big cousin 16mm - and we're defs having a 16mm moment on planet earth right now), but when you get this beautiful wee 8mm negative right it shines at one simple thing... being human AF.
And if there's anything we need right now in 2026 it's a slightly nostalgic reminder that we're all wonderfully human AF, literally hand-made, just like this stuff you're watching right here. A cartridge of magic (thanks @kodak_shootfilm ) shipped halfway round the world to a South Pacific island, loaded by hand into a couple of old cameras, shot by hand, focussed by hand, stashed in an old leather camera bag by hand, taken to the Post-Office and shipped by hand to a genius lab (thanks @spectrafilm ) halfway across the world again where it's loaded by hand into a developing tank, dev'd and scanned by hand, and then edited with actual hands to deliver real, human feelings, straight to the heart.
Yeah, it's way less than perfect sometimes, but it turns out that's why - after a decade of broken cameras, expensive film, brutal exchange rates, and a complete lack of auto-focus - we still farking adore it. Cos it looks a lot like... us. (Thank goodness.)

Clare & Cristiano blew the roof off Manhattan’s iconic Hotel Chelsea with a wild AF intimate wedding that they pulled off in… two short weeks. Obvs it helps to have insane style, a bunch of absurdly talented friends, and to know where the Chelsea is, but still… pro level NYC make-it-happen mojo in action, coupled w a room full of the kindest, warmest, most welcoming friends you could imagine.
When big city lovers dream of the perfect, spontaneous intimate wedding, trust me, they’re dreaming of this.

When Perth-based NZ maestros Lou and Chris decided to tie the knot they knew it had to be back on home-town Bay of Plenty turf, and that meant throwing the kind of fly-in shindig that was gonna make that 8hr commute worth it. Cue: wild Italian villa garden party madness in the hottest corner of Aotearoa they could find… and let rip!
Renowned film aficionado and style queen Lou hit the details with the exactness of a genius and the wildness of a party animal and we gladly burnt through a good amount of 35mm, medium format and Super8 for the cause. Keep swiping til you hit the Super8 trailer for a sneaky taste of all the good things, these guys did it all beautifully.
Brooklyn supremos Katie & Matt got hitched in true NYC fashion - do the things you love, in the places you love, with the people you love, and turn it ALL the way up.
Obviously living in a building w a field of daisies on the roof helps, as does havin’ a genius canine sidekick (here’s to you Marge), but when their fav restaurant @coloniaverde said ‘why not?’ to hosting their wedding shindig, and their fav Greenpoint DJ spot @eavesdrop.nyc said ‘hells yeah’ to slammin’ the after party… well, it was a home run waiting to be hit.
Honourable mention/shout-out goes to THE most insane glitter-fuelled bus ride uptown to the after-party (scroll for evidence). Colonia Verde though… what a spot. And M&K, full heart-eyes emoji. No words. This is how you do it people…

Get ready for an NYC classic.
When Katherine asked Felix - fresh as can be to the American dream and holed up in their sweet lil Upper Manhattan apartment - whereabouts he wanted to get married, he said he didn’t care so long as he could see the Statue of Liberty when they said ‘I do’.
Cue late night texts about getting married on the Staten Island Ferry, and then zoom calls about getting married on the Staten Island Ferry, and then a call to NYDOT about getting married on the Staten Island Ferry. “Well they didn’t say we COULDN’T get married on the ferry… they just said we couldn’t drink on the ferry.”
Before you know it there’s a handful of family and friends crammed into their apartment getting ready (and dancing) and we’re all taking a downtown 1 train to the ferry terminal w Sunday the pup tucked under an arm, past the wonderful wildness of Washington Heights, with Dominican friends promising a street party to Felix when he comes back married (that was no empty promise) and we’re on the ferry and doin’ it and throwing a bouquet to some random lovers and drinking Prosecco and getting chased off the ferry for taking too long.
And then just as quick we’re back on the subway, eating packets of M&M’s bought from some kid with a cardboard box full of treats, and they’re doing rum shots at a fruit-sellers stall in Little Dominican Republic, and there’s high fives and collapsing on chairs in the street and stumbling back through the apartment door with Sunday still in one piece…
And it turns out the American dream is alive and well (and in love) and living somewhere above 207th Street.
