A brand-new volunteer initiative is launching this year - Welcome to Gloucester Ambassadors, led by Gloucester BID and local partners - and it’s all about giving our city the warmest welcome possible 💛
This friendly team of volunteers will be out in the city centre, greeting visitors, supporting residents, and shining a spotlight on everything that makes Gloucester special.
From the historic beauty of Gloucester Cathedral to the vibrant waterfront at Gloucester Docks and the electric matchday atmosphere at Gloucester Rugby, our city is full of heritage, culture, sport and retail - and our Ambassadors will help showcase it all.
👋 A Friendly Face for the City
Ambassadors will:
• Offer a warm welcome in key locations
• Provide directions to attractions & businesses
• Hand out city maps
• Share up-to-date info on events, offers & activities
You’ll see them during festivals, sporting fixtures, seasonal markets and other busy periods across the city.
⏳ Flexible Commitment, Meaningful Impact
✔ Minimum of just 4 hours per month
✔ Typically 2-hour shifts during events & peak times
✔ Work in pairs or small teams
✔ Full training & ongoing support provided
✔ Branded polo shirt & name badge included

We’re looking for people aged 18+ who:
• Are friendly, confident & love meeting people
• Feel proud of Gloucester
• Are happy working outdoors
• Can do occasional evenings/weekends
• Know the city (or are keen to learn!)
