Can’t be more stoked for @joeljttaylor truly just an incredible athlete, re inventing what P1 Para Surfing can look like… training hard and working hard to push the limits of this sport.. I’m not only grateful to be his chosen coach to be in his corner throughout his competitive career , but also get to watch the push forward he is making on his free surfing sessions , chasing heavy waves and show casing proper professionalism in everything he does.. watching him win his 3rd Australian Para surfing Title in Byron Bay yesterday and knowing we are now on the program to focus in on a 3rd ISA World Para Surfing Title… I’m just super proud of this guy… even if I still get nervous when heats are on, its not actually about his performance , it’s more just wanting him to get the waves to showcase the level he really is at!! Bring on 2026 behind the scenes sessions and looking forward to sharing more about Joel’s journey this year! Thanks for letting me be apart of the journey and congratulations on your 3rd Australian Para Surfing title!! Thanks to the team @whereswinks the ultimate push to Joel’s free surfing antics and support @lorinjaye Jay and Sunny for being the backbone of support for Joel and his surfing dreams šŸ¤™šŸ¼

Free Tip Fridays!!! As a coach, working with focussed individuals who are pro active in putting practice into play is one of the most rewarding parts of our roles…surfing can be fast..everything happens so fast and it can be hard to break through the mental barriers to be able to think on the fly once you get in the water… here we simplified our session and found slower waves on the second day of coaching to enable the client to have time to think and opportunity to really focus on the set task.. the results really showed and now off they go into a new found element of their surfing that feels good… in person coaching and investing in a few sessions to then be able to track progress… I feel is incredibly beneficial…with so many online videos and information… nothing beats engaging with a coach and building your skill set through ongoing footage and feedback… doing this in person and online has really seen our clients progress their surfing to new levels… . . Let us know your thoughts below . Happy Friday from Raff and Jacq šŸ¤™šŸ¼ . Coaches @bodymindelevation @jacquimareebailey @mikloraff

I recently got to try out a Lab Rat 2 from @stcy.co I had it made 1 inch bigger than my normal short board and some more foam so I could ride it in more punchy solid conditions and feel like I had good paddle volume but also good rail length to hold off the bottom on more powerful waves… I’m super happy with the feel of this board, wanted to share this clip, I actually had the chance to go to Vanuatu for a week after the first session and I rode it there in all conditions and felt so good… Lee is definately a master craftsmen and can’t wait to share a review of some of the new fun models currently being shaped.. šŸ¤™šŸ¼ Thank you. @jessestarling for the paint job šŸ™šŸ¼ #surftolive #surfboards #vanuatu #surfcoach #surfingislife

Today marks 7 years working for @surfingaushpc and what an epic ride it’s been, from working alongside some of the greatest coaches and people on the globe, to working grass roots with future super stars… every day is different and makes throwing on the coaches hat super rewarding.. A few highlights for me - 3 years head coach for our Surfing Australia High Performance academy - Head Coach for Team Australia at the ISA Parasurfing world titles. - Running Our resilient teams programs alongside such amazing coaches -Soldier on- working with return defence force vets .. sharing the stoke of surfing To be honest every day I get to work with some incredible people , super talented and interesting from all walks of life and it’s that love for surfing, progressing, growing… that means the days are never monotonous.. I’ve survived many cyclone weather events, capturing footage along the way bunkered down in gale force winds and torrential rain, many floods! I’ve been through many umbrellas too!! Thanks to everyone I’ve been able to meet and impact with my coaching over the years . šŸ» to many more years ahead šŸ¤™šŸ¼ @forgottenlocal

Jacq’s @jacquimareebailey reflections and tips from working with competitive surf athletes re. nervous system regulation and meditative flow, and from many years working with team and individual athletes across multiple sports… ā€œA lot of this is known intuitively — athletes can generally reflect on what it feels like to be in flow and what it feels like to ā€˜melt’ under the stress and pressure of competition. What many aren’t aware of is: 1. the language to describe it; 2. the ability to witness and spot it in real time; and 3. the skills to come back in the moment and recover their performance.ā€ — @jacquimareebailey

Love the colours, always wanted a shot from the channel at Kirra.. stoked @andrewshield snapped this one for @swellnet I definitely spectated more than participated this swell having to film on the Monday afternoon for work and then just in awe of the madness on Tuesday.. never seen so many lords charging so hard, lots of skis, lots of snapped boards.. with the impending TC Alfred it had such a heightened vibe to it.. The trusty big blue 6’8 bushranger shaped by @markrichardssurfboards only comes out for these swells.. it’s never let me down thanks @mick_dykman for letting me baby sit this one šŸ¤™šŸ¼

Spent the week working with some intermediate surfers on a 5 day Adult camp, really getting back to the basics, small technique changes, understanding body movement and equipment and how to approach lines based on what they have chosen to ride, I decided to ride my 6’7 Ohlson Twin my shaper @stcy.co shaped me.. just to show how you can use more of the rail in all conditions to stabilise turns using more subtle rotation and body movement … this board really allows me to slow down the movement instead of the erratic speed of a HP short board.. clip is just a basic round house.. a foundation movement technique to link you back to the power source in a more fun way… head and body rotation back to the foam.. and lift to rotation to rebound off the foam.. . . @mikloraff
