My approach to working holistically = injuries, pain and restrictions are opportunities for new patterns ~ neuroplasticity is our ally in creating lasting change. The body’s systems do not work in isolation. My prescription for integrated prehab, rehab, breath, bodywork, mobility and movement are always centred around your individual lifestyle and performance goals. Your progress, your evolution.

My how’s and why’s to feel bossy with the roller in between bodywork treatments with me ~ practice finding your groove and flow with efficiency, integrity and breath so you feel more empowered to support your recovery, helping with restriction, tension, fatigue. Myofascial massage used in conjunction with steady breath is especially useful for supporting nervous system changes to do this ~ and for encouraging better blood, lymph, neural circuitry flow. Unblocked fluid and nerve flow means healthier cells, therefore healthier tissues. . Remember to breathe and be in a state conducive to change within your bodymind ~ self-soothing diaphragmatic breaths to feel as much relaxation as possible. I teach this in another reel and in my private sessions, classes, workshops, trainings. The more you foam roll, the more bossy or in flow you’ll feel about your self massage. The more in tune with your bodymind and breath you feel during that time, the more relaxed you’ll become to feel less tense, restricted, grippy. . This flowing sequence covers some of my favourite focal areas to help you enhance recovery, taking mindful care of your soft and connective tissues, shifting stagnancy. . Filmed at the Surfing Aus High Performance Centre ~ I’m using the flow foam roller @blackroll_australia

“Jacq’s got to be potentially the best movement and mobility coach I’ve ever worked with, and the best Remedial Bodyworker. I’ve demanded a lot from my body over the years and I’ve worked with a lot of people - I don’t think I’ve come across anyone with such a unique style as Jacq. She really does have something different and special - her combination of incredible skill as a remedial bodyworker and incredible knowledge of the body, with her skill and years of practice and study in movement really work together so well. And she just has such an intuitive feel for what your going through when she’s working with you. She really knows what you’re experiencing and is able to manipulate the body and know right where it needs to be and right where the threshold of improvement and feeling are. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced someone with such a knowledge on what you’re experiencing when she’s working with you - someone who can really tune into what you feel, what you need, what’s not enough and what’s too much. I really can’t recommend Jacq enough and feel very fortunate to have met her and be able to work with her. And absolutely trust 100% in what she is doing with me and others is hugely beneficial, safe, and she’s doing it because she loves it and cares about it and you can feel her passion through the work that she does. Absolutely cannot give her enough praise and accolades on what’s she’s created in her very unique style in working with the body.” 🙏✨ beautiful client gratitude for integrated movement, mobility, breath, bodywork, yoga, Pilates & meditation in private sessions with me.

Jacq’s @jacquimareebailey reflections and tips from working with competitive surf athletes re. nervous system regulation and meditative flow, and from many years working with team and individual athletes across multiple sports… “A lot of this is known intuitively — athletes can generally reflect on what it feels like to be in flow and what it feels like to ‘melt’ under the stress and pressure of competition. What many aren’t aware of is: 1. the language to describe it; 2. the ability to witness and spot it in real time; and 3. the skills to come back in the moment and recover their performance.” — @jacquimareebailey

The nervous system responds to stimuli. The breath as a stimulus, gives feedback on our inner and outer environment. So the way you breathe influences your nervous system. And breathing well begins with the diaphragm. A short, shallow breath will ‘upregulate’ your system towards a sympathetic stress response. A slow deep diaphragmatic breath will ‘downregulate’ your system towards a parasympathetic response. A continued smooth diaphragmatic breath will support a regulated ventral vagal state. Coming back to this state regularly throughout the day is necessary for the body’s innate healing mechanisms to take effect and support longevity in your bodymind health. And to provide you with ample time in your most grounded, open, receptive, present, intuitive, inspired, connected, confident and authentic perspective and state of being. Don’t overlook the fundamentals. Set yourself up to feel empowered for life. Join me in 2025 for the Somatic Stress Support™ 14 Day Challenge @bodymindelevation Follow the web link in bio to sign up.

In my very early 20s I thought it was normal to be overwhelmed, anxious, tired, avoidant, frustrated. I didn’t have a positive, conscious inner process to get better at handling stress and dysregulation until thankfully, in my human anatomy studies I learned we have an innate mechanism to physiologically release stress and grow our tolerance to it. I just needed to practice using it. So for the last 12 years I have and it’s still serving me very well in refining my process of moving through and alchemising life’s experiences and challenges without burning out. I still practice every day. And I teach it and facilitate it for others in my family, community and work. But I’ve had big life moments where my self soothing skills were tested. I moved out by myself during lockdown 3 years ago. I could no longer co-regulate with the person I’d lived with for 10 years. And the world was shutdown. No treatments, no yoga studio classes, no family or friends in a 5km radius. It was a very steep, isolated learning curve. I still remember calling friends and family feeling completely lost at the start. And then I anchored back into my practice, knowledge and tools, and self-regulated daily. This gave me clarity, confidence and safety to move forward. I overcame the coping and spiralling and importantly, alchemised it into more capacity for life. To grow and expand into the person I wanted to become without burning out. I still reached out for support and I still do - this is absolutely ok. I need my massages regularly too! And co-regulating is valuable and necessary, I’ll talk more about it in my next email and reel. But my point is our bodyminds are designed to adapt - in fact, they’re doing it every second of every day. Everything we experience is stimuli for our nervous system. And at an underlying cellular physiological level, we’re naturally designed to alchemise experiences and can adapt to stress stimuli as adults. The problem is most of us aren’t taught how to service and use this stress cycle mechanism to avoid it becoming jammed and stuck. To be continued… Subscribe to get notified when the next email and reel is released so you don’t miss it. Link in my bio.
