Got commissioned by @facebook to tell @lisaquama ‘s story through movement and memory with the use of photography meets film.
This one was all about culture, connection, and how we express who we are.
Shoutout to my team, you helped turn an idea into something real. Appreciate you all.
Special thanks to Tim Horwood, Tarryn Lee Crossman & Kezia Anim

My love for cinema keeps brewing… I think it’s in the way I’m starting to notice things now.
Out along the coast in Ghana, things are always moving.
Boats are coming in, quiet but steady. No rush, just people doing what they’ve always done.
Nets, hands, water… it all moves like it understands itself.
The colours sit rich in the light, silhouettes drifting in and out, everything holding its shape for a second before shifting again.
By the time the sun settles in, the fish are already on their way.
Not too far from there, the market takes it on. Same story, different pace louder, faster, more voices carrying it forward.
Then, without much warning, it eases off again. The canoes find their way back, laid out, resting. The light drops, and the noise leaves with it.
It’s the same day, just passing through different hands.

Story by @yaw_tollo
Dark skin holds light in a way that feels almost elemental.
It catches warmth, reflects depth, and carries a quiet brilliance that asks us to slow down and really see.
Across cultures and across history, dark skin has been praised, adorned, honored, and celebrated.
And it has also been judged, challenged, targeted, and misunderstood.
Yet through every era and every pressure, this skin has carried strength, pride, creativity, and an unbroken sense of self.
It is heritage. It is memory. It is beauty that has refused to dim.
We should cherish it, nurture it, treat it like something rare.
Because it is.
There is gold in its tones, in the way it shifts from shadow to sun, in the way it holds generations of resilience and beauty in a single moment.
As I look back at these portraits , I’m reminded of what made me fall in love with photographing dark skin.
A reminder that the body, in all its story and survival, has always been art.
