𝑽𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒃𝒖𝒍𝒆 is out today on @thanatosis_records Available on all decent streaming platforms and through the link in my bio ❤️‍🔥 This project took years to bring together and I'm so glad that it's found the home it has. Thanks so much to @alexzethson for his enthusiasm and hard work. It's ever more important to me to make work that I don't know how I feel about. It's unsettling— flirting with sentimentality and numbness, in both the music (to my ears, at least) and, too, the way of working. Performed by @bfinnaz @jack.adlermckean and @octandre_ensemble under the baton of @christianmasonmusic Recorded and mixed by Ed Cooper and @aaronhollowaynahum Mastered by Miles Whittaker of @demdikestare at Full Range Mastering Artwork by Ed Cooper and @ronniedanaher Photographs by @ronniedanaher PR by @dense___pr

HEKATE'S VOICES is on Bandcamp's Best Field Recordings released in April 2025 🌕 I was offline when this was released but THANK YOU so much to @koryreeder at @sawyer_editions for putting the album out. This project has meant so much to me over the years and it's wonderful to have it so beautifully released 💜 Love always to @harrisonledgerkate ❤️‍🔥 with field recordings as rich as these from Hekate, and a player as rethink-your-ears stunning as Kate, my efforts as a composer were very minimal (how nice is that?) Available on all streaming platforms and through Bandcamp 🌑 I've got a few physical copies left for UK friends - DM me and I'll gladly post you one xx

💫 FACT FICTION — applications now open, link in bio 💫 The New Music Research Institute Amsterdam in collaboration with @institut.abeceda and @temponewmusic invites applications to FACT FICTION, an interdisciplinary research and development programme for students and professionals—including composers, performers, scholars, educators, makers, artists, producers, curators, and emerging practitioners—who seek to formulate, prototype, test, refine, and mobilise original research through artistic practice, analytical inquiry, and critical reflection within a sustained international research community. Led by @airfromnewplanets Dr Alastair White, the programme is structured across three pathways: Introduction to Research, Young Researchers, and the Advanced Research Group. These pathways support successive stages of research development, from foundational orientation and methodological formation to original proposal design, portfolio construction, doctoral preparation, advanced interdisciplinary analysis, and sustained peer review. Research projects evolve through structured presentations, critical dialogue, peer review, and iterative refinement. Organised around the concrete questions, materials, methods, and challenges emerging from individual and collective work, the programme operates as a dynamic research ecosystem—supporting long-term project development while creating clear conditions for the articulation, application, and dissemination of research outcomes, including substantive contributions to artistic and scholarly knowledge. All participants are invited to engage with Bled Contemporary Music Week (Slovenia, EU), which provides an intensive context for public presentation, interdisciplinary exchange, and reflective development. Selected research reports and articles may be published in the annual edition of the Journal of New Music Research and Development, produced by infra.norma.meta Amsterdam and Verso Doxa produced by .abeceda Institute.

We are thrilled to introduce the first artists of 2026! Jack Adler-McKean is a performer-researcher on the tuba family, his recent work featuring solo performances in Munich, Gothenburg and New York, theatrical productions in Berlin, Cottbus and Lucerne, conference presentations in Lisbon, Malta and Tallinn, and publications including The Playing Techniques of the Tuba for Bärenreiter and articles and chapters in Performance Research, The Oxford Handbook of Wind Instruments and Early Music Performance and Research alongside collaborations with museums across Europe and the USA. As curator of the Contemporary Music for Tuba series for Edition Gravis, he has premiered over 40 works for solo tuba. Jack will be performing a work by composer and writer Ed Cooper. Ed's compositional work explores aural limits — those that might be found both within and between listening and hearing, language and sense, or real and imagined sounds. His music is usually disquiet and unsettled in character, often comprising heartbeats, field recordings, detuned guitars, poetry, autotune, and fragmented, plaintive melodies. Jack will be performing '…grown up, you are grown, and feeling stronger, feeling…' for four valved tuba, heartbeat, fixed media — read all about it here: "To listen to a heartbeat extraneously amplified through, say, a stethoscope or speakers, is not only evocative of the visceral, it is visceral. The low, regulatory pulses resonate around a body—their deepness activates dormant ways of attending to sound. I’ve always found this to be particularly noticeable when they stop; to find myself in a contextually heartless moment, only then realising how much the lowness and repetition had taken hold of me. Listening to heartbeats entwines the physical with the symbolic. Their resonances bridge gaps between imagined and real listenings, perhaps disarming the listener to reveal some sort of uncomfortable, internal liminalities; perhaps making palpable the body in and as its thresholds of perception, that which avoids listening and hearing."

'A different water brims. Perhaps it’s somewhere new, perhaps it’s something new, perhaps it’s neither. I clear my throat and this fills my ears.' @getcoopered explores the soundscape of Annea Lockwood's River Archives project: read (and listen along) by following the link in the bio.
