Today’s the day to ✨EMBRACE ✨YOUR ✨SPACE! ✨ I’m thrilled to announce my very first book, photographed cover to cover, and written so beautifully by @katieholdefehr ! We traveled near and far to capture some of the country’s attainable, creative, and beautifully small homes. The crazy cool and talented @leannefordinteriors ’s LA home has graced our cover (styled by @hilaryrobertson !) Can’t wait to share so many more images from this project. It’s been a dream come true. *Pre-order is available now, official release is March 15! Link In Bio!*
We are so thrilled to share that our design for @smartflyer is a 2026 NYCxDESIGN Awards finalist!
The SmartFlyer Penthouse is home to the global headquarters of the luxury travel agency, set within a former residence atop a historic warehouse in Chelsea’s gallery district.
Here is the entrance of the space where visitors are greeted by a thoughtfully curated library lounge. Across from this lounge we reconceived a grand open staircase where once stood a small, cramped passage to the penthouse level. When it came to styling the library, the direction felt instinctive. We sourced hundreds of vintage National Geographic magazines and paired them with the client’s exceptional collection of model airplanes, creating a space that reflects the spirit of travel, discovery, and storytelling.

We aimed to redefine what a headquarters for a company like SmartFlyer can be. We approached this project less as designing an office and more as exploring the possibilities of a private club. Embracing the concept of “third spaces,” the design transformed this former residence into more than just a place to live or work. It became a gathering space that fosters community and culture for the brand’s travel and hospitality network.

At this #Tribeca loft, the private elevator opens directly into a foyer lined with custom spruce oak panels, grounding the space in a natural material palette and soft neutral tones.

Here's a custom bar we designed for the SmartFlyer Penthouse, bringing layered materiality to life. A honed travertine bar top anchors the space, complemented by floating travertine shelves with integrated LED lighting that cast a soft, ambient glow. Above, a wood coffered ceiling, thoughtfully engineered with concealed access panels, adds architectural depth while seamlessly housing integrated lighting.
Warm wood veneer cabinetry grounds the composition, while terra cotta brick tile in a herringbone pattern wraps the floor and continues onto the bar front in a clean butt-joint layout, creating a cohesive yet dynamic visual rhythm. Every detail was considered to balance function, warmth, and refined design, resulting in a bar that feels both elevated and inviting.
@fredtomaselli is known for his memorizing and kaleidoscopic paintings that keep your attention focused and your imagination wandering. Photographing him at his studio last year was a delight. We bonded over our Italian American heritage and the beauty of the sauce-jarring-day in the late summer.
Thanks to @sarahstengel and @jamescohangallery for a wonderful assignment.
