Please join us tonight from 6:30-8:30 pm for our opening reception of Ripples in Still Water. This solo exhibition by Hannah Latham @hlatham6 is the first showing of her ongoing project 19 towns, 20 stories which explores the human impact of substance use disorder in rural Maine. Hannah deliberately installed the exhibition with large-scale wall vinyls of the landscape so viewers feel “less like looking through a window and more like standing alongside the people who are photographed. My hope is that viewers begin to recognize something of themselves in the work,” she writes in an interview for our journal, Pearl (link in bio). “Substance use and its intersections with mental health are often talked about as isolated issues, but in reality, they touch nearly everyone in some way—through family, friends, or personal experience. I hope the exhibition helps people approach these conversations with greater empathy, awareness, and kindness.” 💚 On view through May 10 💚 New open hours Th-Fri 5-8; Sat-Sun 12-4 💚Artist and community talk, “Stories Beneath the Surface” May 9, 1-3 pm 💚 Hannah Latham, “Fish Bait” and “Molly,” archival inkjet prints, 2024 #bostonarts #openingreception #documentaryphoto

The gallery is closed today in observation of the holiday, but we hope you visit us next week to see our latest exhibition, Ripples in Still Water, by Boston based artist Hannah Latham. (@hlatham6 ) Together, the stories form a mosaic that extends beyond the condition itself, tracing the forces that shape these lives, including trauma, childhood sexual assault, poverty, and isolation, as well as the forms of care that sustain them: acts of kindness, safe community spaces, and the protection of children. 📸: Hannah Latham, Keiran, Archival Inkjet Print, 19x13”, 2024.

We are thrilled to share Ripples in Still Water, an Exhibition Proposal Series show, is now on view. We are open today 5-8 pm and tomorrow 12-4 before closing Sunday. Ripples in Still Water examines the human impact of substance use disorder through intimate profiles and semi-documentary photography. Composed of portraits made by Hannah Latham @hlatham6 for Studio B, these photographic works position rural Maine as a microcosm of a national crisis, where isolation can be deadly, and community can be sustaining. Please join us for an opening reception next Friday, April 10, 6:30-8:30 pm (rsvp optional at link in bio) Thank you so much to Hannah, whose sensitive work encourages both empathy and outrage, and calls for a more compassionate response to those most at risk. #bostonarts #exhibitionopening

As we wrapped A Garden Without a Gate this Sunday, we were struck with incredible gratitude to the 28 artists who shared their work with our community. This tactile show was just what we all needed to get out of our heads and into our bodies this season, with works reflecting on chronic illness and preserving culture. Thank you, too, to our incredible jurors Cicely @cicelycarew and Kate @kateholcombhale and install mastermind Doug @dug_bro ! See our website for a sneak peek of our next show by photographer Hannah Latham @hlatham6 , Ripples in Still Water, which opens this Friday. We will be closed for installation tomorrow, April 2, as well as this Sunday, April 5. Please join us for our next reception on Friday, April 10. 🌸 Maggie Nowinski @maggienow , “Cairn: For what is lost in translation II” and Elaine Chao @ebchao “Emergency Radio”
