Marielle elaborates on the track:
"For a year, Long Covid stripped away the patterns that shaped my life. The physical act of playing my instruments became distant, almost unreachable, lost in a cognitive fog. At its worst, I couldn't read a bass clef - something i had learned when I was five years old. Patterns of behavior, of playing instruments, that had been integral to my identity vanished and had to be slowly rebuilt in a new form. The song Everything Lost Remains holds the belief that nothing truly disappears. The Patterns are still there, existing beyond our reach, outside linear time - reminding us that what feels lost may still exist."

On ‘The Patterns Lost to Air,’ each piece emerges from a place of necessary restriction, discovering how limitation itself can become a portal to new territories of sound and meaning. Jakobsons notes, “This renewal and loss and transformative cycle is something I believe transcends the story of the illness.”

Digital artist and alum @fyusha__ created visuals for @claricejensen and @chuckjohnsonmusic ’s performance at Gray Area.
After completing our TouchDesigner 101 course in 2024, Fyusha returned as a TA for @jackdilaura in 2025 and 2026. She describes her time at Gray Area as opening her practice in new directions and expanding how she visualizes the world she carries in her imagination. Since then, her work has extended across music videos for @thrilljockey and @mvjsounds , as well as performances with Oakland experimental act @s__hellsgate .
Fyusha’s trajectory reflects Gray Area’s Cultural Regeneration Model in action: sustained creative development from education to mentorship to collaboration and presentation on our stage.

In our 12-week intensive course, you’ll learn it from the ground up and build an interactive generative artwork of your own. You’ll move from core node-based techniques into textures, 3D geometry, particles, UI building, projection mapping, and light Python inside TouchDesigner.
By the end, you’ll have a finished project, exhibited in the Gray Area Gallery.
