The second half of 2019 was the most fulfilling and exhausting time of my professional career. I disappeared to NYC and was fortunate enough to spend 12-15 hours a day for 6 months documenting a true legend in her craft. 1st class seat as she completed the journey of directing her first feature film along with such a physically taxing role of an MMA fighter.
@halleberry you are without question the hardest working person I know, incredibly selfless and thoughtful as well. The true story behind the story of what it took to get #BruisedTheMovie made is unbelievable, and I was there capturing it all, still canāt believe it. While you continue to push others forward and try to redirect the shine, youāre the reason we all jumped on this project and youāre the reason it actually came to completion. You had 100 roles to fulfill and more and never stopped grinding, missing entire nights of sleep many times. Your spirit is what surprised me the most, bruised but never broken. Genuinely nice to everyone you came across as well.
Iām going to make another post with more BTS goodness but wanted to put this out today on the release day. Thank you to NYC paparazzi for some of these shots! The cast and crew were amazing treating me as family even though I was a fish out of water.
For those still reading, watch Bruised on Netflix today. Also watch knowing that she broke two ribs on the second day of filming. I was there when it happened, when she hid it, and in the room when she got the x-ray.. to be continued.

Living in LA since 2003, this is my home. Sheās worth it. Happy to help provide a home and contribute to this amazing cause @musiciansforfirerelief happening Thursday. Much love to @los_angeles_audio for holding space at @culver.live and throwing down so much gear. Here is just a bit of the build. Thanks to @sbaltin1 for introducing me to Erik and the team to make this happen. @nicharcourt letās get it!
The old parties suck. This should signal the end of the two party majority system. Itās flawed. Thatās not a choice, but a forced acceptance. I re-registered as Independent in 2018 after Bernie got robbed via the DNC. Let 2024 be the last time either side feels forced to accept anyone as their only option.
Rather than being ruled by fear and voting āagainstā a person or a party, letās take the next 4 years realizing that we have more similarities than differences. The center is more appealing for a lot of us because the āsidesā are both on the edge of a cliff at this point.
We have an entire generation of children that arenāt old enough to vote yet, but can easily tell us that feeling we only have two choices in ANY choice isnāt smart.
Trump won, but I donāt believe that the majority of people in America share his views. Iām guessing 30% didnāt vote at all. However, itās a race and he won⦠but I for one and absolutely done with following in line and allowing the DNC to be the leader of a race Iām supporting. Trump canāt run for a 3rd term, so 2028 is wide open for all sides, including a 3rd party.
As a straight white male, I understand and acknowledge the privileged perspective from which my message comes from. My rights have never been in jeopardy or my freedoms at stake. Iām just trying to find a horizon line to focus on while the world as a whole feels like itās losing all control of peace and humanity.
Youāve become more and more like family to me over the past 10 years, especially this year. Our multi-sensory experience together is a whole ass movie; I know because Iāve been filming it⦠Youāve always got a place to jam and someone to document it, especially at 3pm on a Wednesday. She outside! @djsmilesdavis@nts_radio listening session - our first DJ set at @culver.live

Happy #NationalPoetryDay - we celebrate by amplifying Her voice.. a reminder of the absolute power of the spoken word.

Last night I left on a last minute solo mission to Toronto to celebrate my life reaching level 40 today with thousands of strangers who share a similar musical obsession. Musical therapy even. @frankturner is without question one of my favorite songwriters and musical humans that I know. Watching him interview Henry Rollins today was a full circle moment taking it all the way back to the Indie 103.1FM days. I may or may not have given Henry a handwritten note from Frank along with a CD 17+ years ago. @losteveningsfest is and exactly what I needed today and this weekend. #lostevenings
#FrankTurner has played 2,948 shows in this version of his musical journey, tonight will be 2,949. The virgo in me loves his archival list of shows and knowing that show 501 was in LA at the Plush Lounge for my birthday party in 2007. One of the first albums I received a printed credit / thanks in was his first album and Iāve long known that my first tattoo would be a few of his words⦠and considering the fact I somehow escaped death in January, Iāll never need help remembering āthat the only thing thatās left to do is live.ā
2011 I was living in Austin TX and looking for an escape, I had just finished shooting and editing the first ever 3 recap videos for The Color Run and felt inspired by so many humans and stories⦠and it was HOT. I heard about this project called @dogoodbus and shot my shot.
It ended up being an incredible career pivot for me that followed @fosterthepeople on their first ever US Tour. It was actually 13 years ago today we were in the first leg of the tour. We gathered volunteers in each of the 25 cities and helped at a local non profit before each show. I shot and edited videos for each non profit while literally āon the busā, well i think i failed editing the last few, but Iāll post some of those videos too. This is a small part of it. More of a fun tagline that was even better with the outtakes.
āMy name is ____, I rode the Do Good Bus, How do you do good?ā and then this happened š
Sort of forgot about this video until today, but for sure will never forget about the year that was 2021. Coming from the business of a soundstage location and traditional production company - 2020 was almost the breaking point not just financially but also creatively. At that point I had been at @macksennettstudios since Day 1 (Jan 2013) and I wasnāt giving up.
A handful of us doubled down on this particular triangle building at Mack Sennett Studios. I may or may not have even lived in the basement at certain points during lockdown. My 2021 started by watching a livestream of @dnice Club Quarantine with two dogs named Butter and Waffles and ended with the martini shot in this Rewind Video. The rest of 2021 managed itself quite nicely with the help of thousands of tests/facemasks and relentless pursuit of solutions via collaborators and clients and artists. We also had an amazing community of musicians co-working in Stage 2 at what was known as The Rattle that helped me keep my sanity and social skills. I will try to tag more of those involved in these projects in the comments but for now just throwing this into the universe with some of the artists tagged. This isnāt me taking credit for the projects but simply sharing this moment of my career. One thing is for certain, every single frame of this video was captured within the 3 walls of a nearly 110 year old studio of ours in Silver Lake.
The martini shot of 2021 was an epic (fully tested) NYE party we had with friends and family, which was really just a cover for what was an incredible marriage proposal by @thetommyb to our studio queen @condirza_rice - who are having a virgo baby any day now! š¬
Summer 2012 I was watching the London Olympics opening ceremony at my Dadās house while visiting home in Iowa. I started talking about how I had always wanted to go to and shoot the Olympics as a bucket list item, he then replied āWhy donāt you?ā At the time I was only 27 and was in the first years of having my own production company but I took a chance on myself and flew one way to London without an assignment or even a place to stay.
It ended up working out well, this is the 2nd interview that I filmed with @jessicatatianalong - then a 20 year old 12-time Paralympic Gold Medal winning swimmer. She has since continued as a legend in the sport, amassing 50 World Championship Medals, 30 of them in Paralympics and 17 of those Gold. She first struck gold 3 times in Athens 2004 as a 12 year old. This adventure was incredibly humbling yet inspiring for me at the same time.I met so many amazing athletes and journalists and a crew from Spain at a Youth Hostel who dubbed me ERIZOOO š¦
I canāt wait to shoot @la28games - full circle as the last Olympics in LA were in 84, my year of birth.
