The first time I saw Dave perform this piece I was in the basement of Mack Sennett Studios in Silver Lake, we were filming the 5th Weekly livestream of MyPeoples, still one of the most impactful projects I’ve had the pleasure to help bring to life. I was shooting close up with a 70-200mm lens and was locked in on the details of the frame, then the song hit me.
Each of the two times I’ve witnessed Dave perform this it’s got me all in my feels, even in editing it. It’s a timeless and masterful expression in a musical form. Even if one person is moved by this as much as I have been, then it’s worth all of the time spent on capturing and sharing this. Thanks again to Dave for showing up and saying yes to my request of an encore of this 8+ years later. It hits differently now.
