FRIDAY NIGHT FORGE! Evening Workshops

Howdy folks, now here at Bill’s Workshop we like to change things up and offer all kinds of types of courses that get people hands on and creating. Our new evening courses are just that! A shorter more cost effective course for those who want to give blacksmithing a go while getting to escape the everyday and hang out with like minded folks!

Sculpt and Sip
Forge candle holders for the garden in this evening of scrolling and bending steel! Finish with a small glass of local wine!

Fire & Forge
Create a decorative fire rake/poker using traditional techniques to produce your very own fire side companion. Celebrate your creation with a bottle round the fire alongside your fellow fire starters.

Bottle & Brew - Gents Night Only!
Forge a Bottle opener with personalised initials and enjoy a bottle of local Mead or Cider!

Friday Night Forge has come from many conversations with @theblacksmithsden for the need for change in the normal routine. Whether that is an escape to the pub for a pint with a friend or to try something new and reset after a long week! Well we figured we would combine it all into one! Meet some new like minded folks, bring a friend if you want, get hands on, creatively think and problem solve, experience some bad jokes in good company and walk away with some marvellous creations! … oh and finish with a small glass of something bubbly to end your week!

I’m super excited about this! Billy @frontier.forge just custom made me this chisel shaped exactly like a beaver tooth! I burned a handle on it this morning using ash from Knepp Estate. This is a game changer for me and the body of work I’m developing for #Tooth&Chisel my upcoming exhibition at @kneppwildingkitchen
All of this collection is informed by the fantastic ecological changes the reintroduction of beavers into the landscape and my time sitting amongst the fallen trees they have gnawed down observing the marks they leave.
My work has long been about stilling myself (quieting my own ego and desire to control), seeking to hear the voice in the wood itself, and letting the timber settle into its own truth after my part is done. This is exactly what the folks at Knepp are doing with the lands; listening to the earth and letting the lands and creature find their own balance. Being asked to attempt and tell that story with my work is a humbling and joyous experience.

Joining for weekend two only, @frontier.forge (previously known as Bill’s Workshop) showcases hand-forged metalwork ranging from cookware to sculptural pieces, designed to last generations. Those who have visited the trail before may remember Billy from his incredible demos!
