This is an older piece of Janet Edmond’s work - she brought it in to show us for the quilting talk we had.
The details of seed stitch, buttonhole stitch and seed stitch add greatly to the texture and makes you want to touch the quilt!
A lovely example too of a limited colour palette.

She took part in a workshop with @debcoopertextileart through textile.org that involved - follow the images!
🧵 patching bits of natural fabrics together whilst some strong tea was brewing!
🧵 Some rusty bits of metal were then wrapped and tied in the stitched fabric and popped in a jam jar full of stewed tea and a bit of walnut ink which was closed and left overnight.
🧵Then the fabric parcel was taken@out , unwrapped and left to dry.
🧵 This detail shows not only beautiful stitching but attention to detail@in the placing of fabric pieces and textures.
We love this project and have a feeling some members may have a go at it themselves - who has not got scraps of fabric in the work room and rusty nails in the garage??? ❤️

When your mum is an incredible artist and loves drawing rusty, part finished projects! Whilst mine isn’t rusty anymore it has been in this position for about 2 years and in development for about a decade 🤦🏻♂️
If you’d be interested in images of your project, she loves drawing the knackered, rusty, unfinished, rat look, odd ones, less the shiny pretty ones!!

I love how she’s captured the dubious health and safety practises, the nonsense all around the workshop and the ‘far from finished’ look 😂
