Our first gathering in Berlin’s sunniest room is about shining a light on the people who have played a vital role in shaping who we are today. While we’re moving into new directions, our roots remain close. @frei.geist , one of our longest-standing Residents, returning once again to open new horizons. No closing this time, but kicking off our event on May 14. As we reflect on where we come from, we also look ahead and welcome new friends to our circle. @saltyandsourrr from Hannover will bring her signature spice to the early hours of the evening. Our house matadors @kedi.bounce couldn’t be missing on this one. The trio will deliver their unmistakable blend of Afro house, soulful grooves, tribal & jacking 💃 🕺 @dj.northern & @sparklingwater.dreams have always been known for pushing the crowd further and further. ‚Heating up the floor’ doesn’t even begin to describe the energy they bring as solo artists: what happens when they go b2b is something you’ll have to experience for yourself. I invited @frei.geist from Berlin for the 18th episode of Dancefloor Diaries. Only Vinyl Recording from the @kollektiv_synergie x @tohhnzimmer event in Hamburg. Slide 1: @dimiangelis Slide 2: @fossil_archive_rmk Slide 3: Future Meta Laser Slide 4: @slam_djs Slide 5: @chris_liebing x @avatism ,Only The Good Times‘ felt like the perfect choice for an encore track for this set. All three times I had the honour of playing at Tohhnzimmer in Hamburg were very special gigs for me. Knowing they were about to close, the last one already felt emotional in advance. I hadn’t even left my record bags backstage before I was asked if I could extend my set. So many people came up to me saying they couldn’t wait to hear what I’d play this time. When I stepped into the booth in the middle of the dance floor, I looked around the smoke-filled room, bathed in purple light, and saw countless friends, the DJs who had played before me, the staff, so many new faces, and all their excitement for the closing ahead. Goosebumps in my brain. Once I started, everything completely took off. I haven’t felt such an intense energy on a dance floor in a while, seriously. People lost themselves completely, in the very best way possible. Words tend to fall short when it comes to describing moments like these, so I’ll let the music speak. The occasional screams that the needles picked up during the set still give me shivers when I listen back to it. The end of the night brought me to tears. All the love shown on that grey Sunday in January still fuels my batteries. These are the nights I live for! The Tohhnzimmer chapters are among my favourites in my dancefloor diary. I look back on them with a bit of melancholia, because the old living room is now gone. But I also look ahead to Tohhnzimmer’s future with excitement, because no closing is ever the end.
