About two weeks ago my time at @fabricaresearchcentre came to an end. My heart remains full. I’ve met the most amazing group of people from all over the world. At times it was a battle with myself, and with the institution, and at other times, just a relaxed day at Lago di Santa Croce. I will forever stay grateful to have been able to participate in this residency and for the wonderful group of people, I’ve made friends with.
For the Fabrica 30 reunion, a festival celebrating the 30th anniversary of the residency, I decided to photograph our entire group using a method developed by Ira Cohen. In his project ‘Into the Mylar Chamber’, he used a mirrored foil to bend faces and bodies. ‘How to Swallow an Eye from a Face’ was installed at the heart of Tadao Ando‘s Fabrica, establishing our group of residents as the hosts of the festival and welcoming all visitors. Each resident chose their outfit and pose, reflecting on their personality.

EXTENDED DEADLINE: 04.04.2025 // Open Call for our 4th collective book! Submissions are made through the link in our bio. These are some of our favourites so far!
Our call is open worldwide to all types of visual arts; photography, painting, illustration, sculpture, design, film stills, etc. Basically anything printable in a book. No restrictions in terms of age, accomplishments, approach… You can send images from one or more projects but note that they will still be considered individually.
Your credentials or previous accomplishments are irrelevant. Our mission is to give a home to great images whatever the background of the artist is. That being said, we have always encouraged the newcomers. Since the beginning we try our best to spread the work of unknown & emerging (sorry to use this term…) artists!
