Mohammadi Mana ā Current artist in residence at Fabrica for Autumn-Winter 2024, exploring the theme of ruralism.
@st.mana is a fashion photographer and visual designer from Stuttgart, Germany, whose work delves into the intersection of personal narratives and broader social, cultural, and political issues. Through her projects, she aims to highlight underrepresented voices and draw attention to pressing global concerns, fostering a deeper connection between people and the environments they inhabit.
One of her recent works, āIdentity Cutā (2023), explores the impact of hairstyles on personal identity. This collection reflects the diversity of our society, emphasizing haircuts as powerful expressions of individuality. The project seeks to foster a deeper understanding of how hairstyles contribute to the construction and representation of identity, celebrating the wide variety of hair types and styles while recognizing their equal value.
Her latest project, āThe Polish Guysā (2024), documents the lives of Polish labor migrants in Stuttgart. Six men share a 50m² apartment, with two people per room, working in Germany due to the lack of comparable job opportunities and significantly lower wages in Poland. The project sheds light on the challenging living conditions faced by these labor migrants, whose housing situation is barely humane and whose work often goes underappreciated by society. Through this body of work, she aims to bring visibility to their struggles and advocate for a more just recognition of their contributions.
