Francesca Perpetuini è una Art director e visual designer freelance specializzata in semiotica applicata al design e progettazione grafica. La sua ricerca si concentra sull’esplorazione di nuovi linguaggi visivi e sulla trasmissione delle tradizioni e celebrazione delle diversità. Fa parte di Italy: A New Collective Landscape, mostra rappresentativa del design italiano under 35. Che la settimana della #milanodesignweek 2026 abbia inizio!

This staircase, pointing towards the sky, has been at Fabrica since the beginning. It challenged us to climb, think big and dream. Last summer, just after the Reunion Festival invited together more than 800 former residents from 72 countries to celebrate its 30th anniversary, a violent storm took it down. Then, last December, towards the end of the last residency I was part of, an olive tree was planted in the same place, as part of an artwork in support of the Palestinian people. At the end of this incredible journey, which I had the honour to coordinate over these last two years, I am reminded that creativity has never been an aspiration for something distant but rooted in the values of resistance of the people we meet along the way, those who allow us to transform ourselves and become what we are. What remains of this journey is not the dream of a single voice- I am just one of many who have passed through Fabrica- but the strength of encounters of the most beautiful and inspiring people, united by the belief that the power of change is rooted in the entanglement of diversities, as a community togetherness. Today is the last day to visit the collective exhibition “Italy: A New Collective Landscape” at @hkdi.gallery in Hong Kong @hkdi_hongkongdesigninstitute Here’s a mix of highlights from this 🥲💝💥 journey, featuring my work “Luminous Matter”, some behind-the-scenes glimpses of the production (thanks @asukaakagawa 🤍), and happy faces. Ciao amici! Really happy to share with you that my installation “Luminous Matter” is part of the exhibition “Italy: A New Collective Landscape” at @adidesignmuseum 4.04-10.09.2023 "The Luminous Matter" is an interactive installation acting as a mirror in which the passerby is reflected in a constantly changing abstract shape. The movement is captured by a motion-sensor webcam and projects a trail of light through a monitor. The impossibility to crystallize into an image which resembles us, it is precisely what the installation invites us to see: the only characteristic that unites all beings is change. We belong to multiple systems in constant transformation that influence and change each other just as we do. Design is the active practice that aims to reveal all dialogues still unexpressed, for transforming them into new modes of relationship that propagandize renovation. The more movements are perceived by the webcam, the more intense is the animation of the light trail. It evolves as well as the interactions that soon will lead us to be different forms from those we are today.
