It’s the 1st February which in Ireland is St Brigid’s day, marking the beginning of spring, which is the season this jacket is made for. My first make of 2025 and with my upgraded machine was this jacket that has been in the works since August 2024. I cut all the squares out months ago and then I was too afraid to continue because I wasn’t confident my machine would handle it (I was right given it broke making Christmas Stockings) This is by far my favourite make ever and I can’t wait to wear it as much as possible Fabric 🪡: @libertyfabrics “Postcards from the Highlands” , with a green chambray from @higgsandhiggs for the inside Pattern🗒️: @fibremood Molly Jacket It’s also 1 year since I started my sewing instagram account and I’ve loved scrolling everyone’s makes, getting inspiration and showing what I’ve made. It’s been a lovely little community right in my pocket! Me Made May Day 17 I was asked this morning if I was on holidays which shows how optimistic this look is/ how little I get to wear a dress. In seriousness though I might need to sew this slit closed a little more due to the risqué leg show Dress; Heatwave Dress by @les.perlines Fabric; deadstock italian floral from @simplyfabricsbrixton I actually made two dresses with this fabric but the first was a Hughes Dress that didn’t suit me so was given to my much taller sister. Me Made May Day 16 :Plus a review of my Adam’s Pant! Top; Collage Gather Top @matchymatchysewingclub in a mixtures of linens and cotton from @thefabriccellar Trousers; Adam’s Pants @daughterjudypatterns in a 8oz denim from @clothkits This woodland by the way smelt amazing. Bluebells covering the whole floor. The Adam’s Pants; It might be obvious that I’ve decided 2026 is the year of the Jean and I’m trying out different styles and patterns to find my fit. I really like Daughter Judy trousers after such a success with the Coe trousers. The Adam’s pant is a more relaxed fit with options for either a zip or button fly. The back pockets are almost 3d with darts to give them some extra room. My measurements fall in the size 10 waist and 8 hip and I decided to size down to an 8 as these pants are relaxed. Something funky happened when putting on the waistband and there’s an annoying tuck but I think only I know it’s there. As with my other experience with Daughter Judy trousers the construction is well written and clean. I did do a small scoop out of the back rise because I seem to be blessed unwillingly in the butt and this has been a success. @charlotterachantoinette made a very funny but informative reel on this a few weeks ago. I also didn’t shorten these and I am 5’3” and would class them as short on me. So worth looking at when cutting out and choosing size. I probably will make again at some point in a heavier weight denim to see how I like that fit. Me Made May Day 13 I’ve no business wearing a linen jumpsuit as it’s still so cold but I’m also not going anywhere now I’m home from work. Zadie Jumpsuit by @paper_theory - a cult classic Fabric is a striped linen from @fabricgodmother I’ve had to safety pin the front closed as one’s chest is not the same it once was and this just falls open and all can see. Me Made May Day 9 This was not the outfit I’d planned today but woke up to it being a few degrees colder and now lashing which isn’t vibing with the summer clothes I yearn for. Em, can it just be warmer than 10 degrees for a few days. Made up in a lovely block print from @heysewsister.co.uk and fully lined with navy cotton lawn making it actually quite warm which suits Scottish Spring Pattern modified to have a full button placket, grandfather style collar and left off the sleeve cuffs. #sewinglyra #memademay2026 #janomemakes
