In my annual tradition of subverting the Black Friday circus of watching our hard earned money flow into the pockets of Billionaires - 100% of profits from all purchases today will be donated to the Mutual Aid Project @destash4palestine . I never run sales, for a myriad of reasons discounting my work is not something I believe in. But the situation in Palestine is more dire than ever, so today I’m making an exception. I’m offering 15% off all patterns, and I will be donating 100% of the proceeds from every sale to @destash4palestine . This grassroots initiative delivers aid directly to Palestinian families in Gaza, cutting out middlemen. Your purchase today contributes to this urgent, immediate, hands-on support and makes a real, tangible difference in their lives. Please use the code #blackfriday25 when checking out. I don’t want to encourage unnecessary shopping. But if you were planning to buy a pattern, this is a chance for your purchase to go somewhere it’s urgently needed. And if you don’t need a pattern, please consider this your reminder that you can donate directly to @destash4Palestine @medicalaidpal @thepcrf or @doctorswithoutborders . #freepalestine🇵🇸❤️ #peace #memadewardrobe #sustainablefashionbrands

Watching the huge crowds line up for the opening of @sheinofficial first brick n mortar stores in Paris today was depressing. So this is your annual reminder to resist the urge to shop when you feel like shit and to keep wearing and restyling your clothes. You don’t need new clothes, you just need more self confidence. Weather permitting, I have a worn this dress weekly for almost two years. •Denim #raypinafore I made in early 2024 •Vintage Army Jacket bought in 2020 •@jw_anderson handbag I bought from a staff only sample sale back in 2019 •Silk Keffiyeh from @sarahmusa bought in 2023

#BehindtheScenesWith : Tara Viggo of @paper_theory . The woman behind the viral #ZadieJumpsuit In the last six years since we first collaborated there has been an explosion of newcomers to the indie pattern industry. How has this affected Paper Theory? It’s amazing how much the sewing scene has changed in such a short time! I could never have guessed it. Competition in the market has grown hugely, which of course has affected my business, but at the same time, the actual market and the number of people who are sewing has also grown over the last six years. I think the sewing market is now entering its third wave of flux: the Covid sewing boom has settled, and as people return to their outdoor hobbies, the urgency to sew has calmed down. This shift is also starting to reveal which of the newer sewing and pattern businesses are built on genuine passion for the craft, and which were perhaps more motivated by the growing market and healthy profit margins. Some businesses that jumped on the bandwagon during the boom are now struggling as the tides have turned, whereas those with deeper roots in the sewing community seem to be weathering the change more steadily. I absolutely believe that there is enough room for all of us indie pattern designers. Our market is now large and varied, our customers all want different things, so we as designers can specialise in our own niches and cater to different demands. At the end of the day more choices for our community is a good thing! To read the full interview hop onto #FSthethread, link in bio #fabricsstorecom #papertheory #interview #patternmaking #patternmaker #sewingpatterns #slowfashion

We’re in the dregs of autumn down here, but every now and then we still get a beautiful day. However I’m pretty sure this will be my last chance to wear this outfit before it’s full hibernation mode. It’s been my summer + autumn MVP. The top is the shirt from the #agnespjs. I hate fabric clinging to me when it’s hot (especially under the arms—no thanks), so the deep dolman sleeve is a dream. The shorts are a new pattern I’ve been perfecting and there have been a few changes since this iteration, but mostly just small fitting tweaks. Fabric is the Olive linen from @wearethefabricstore

Last week I taught digital patternmaking to the second year fashion students at @otagopolytechnic . I’ve been using a software called Gerber for around 15 years, in a professional setting as a freelancer and in my own studio for Paper Theory. I really enjoyed having the chance to teach the program to the students. It’s arguably the best fashion school in the country - and where I first learnt Gerber (20 years ago!!😮). What does one wear to teach at Fashion school? They were treated to a full week of me shamelessly wearing my own patterns 😅. Outfit 1/2/3 are all different versions of the #raypinafore, there are 2 #olyashirt snuck in there and outfit 4 is an #agnespjs shirt.

✨The #RayPinafore pattern is now available to download!✨ Available in bust size 31”-62” / Hip 34”-65” It’s the perfect transeasonal layering piece to pair with a jumper in Autumn or over a T-shirt in Spring. This pattern has been a long time in the making so I can confirm it really does work all year around. It’s been the main staple of my wardrobe for over six months now. It comes with three different strap variations, side splits and deep pockets. The dress is made from 10z denim from @wearethefabricstore and has the adjustable strap option. Thank you to my beautiful model Marama and the talented @isabellaharrexphotos for the photos 📸 #memadewardrobe #sewingpatterns

The #RayPinafore dress pattern is due to be released on October 4th. This is your Tester Call! I’m trying a new thing and have two separate groups of testing for this pattern. One is a paid gig, one isn’t. They have very different requirements. Have a look at the form if you want more info. Available in UK sizes 6-34. I have now added 3 extra sizes to my range for new patterns so the maximum hip width is now 65.5” (158cm). P.S This dress is made in the Painterly Rouge Linen from @merchantandmills .

I had a lovely few days in London before heading home to NZ. I feel hugely grateful to have travelled from one end of Europe to the other easily, safely and have generous offers of accomodation in each city from friends and family. Sharing with my loved ones the best food, drink and swimming spots summer has to offer 🍊. It’s hard not to compare to those who are instead being bombed to smithereens just for existing, while they desperately seek safety, shelter and food. Keep talking about Palestine in real life, keep boycotting, keep donating to families in need or charities on the ground. If it’s been a while since you donated - @destash4palestine have a link with a list of individuals who need your support (and lots of great sewing supplies) It only takes a few clicks. My T-shirt is a fundraiser from @katharinehamnett . I don’t really buy merch or promo T-shirts but I’ve always been a huuuge Katherine Hamnett fan girl. This short and shirt combo has been my holiday workhorse. The shirt is an #olyashirt and the shorts are an unreleased pattern I promise I will eventually share one day. The details of both these garments are a couple pics down my grid if you want more info. 🍉🕊️❤️☀️🌊 Photos taken by my 4 year old ❤️
