Creative music marketing agency @fraudulent.live partnered with @zaralarsson @epicrecords and @palmbeachtan to create immersive, bi-coastal spray tan pop-ups to celebrate her new album ‘Midnight Sun: Girls Trip’. As part of a 20-city worldwide listening party activation, over 3,000 fans got to hear the album first while choosing from an array of custom spray tan experiences including a full-body signature glitter booth with guided instructions voiced by Zara herself. Fans in Los Angeles saw a complete transformation of the Palm Beach Tan store in Beverly Hills into an underwater Zara oasis featuring custom airbrushed surfboards, Swedish license plates stuck in fishnet and the same pink corvette seen in Zara’s album cover. The east coast market was Penn State University to align with her headline performance at their annual student-run music festival alongside @itsthedare @slayyyter and @thatmexicanot . Fans were greeted by a 40-ft inflatable “midnight sun” dome featuring a custom-built mechanical dolphin – the fan who held on the longest won free spray tans for a year. More fraudulent activity with @54Ultra ⚾️

The @fraudulent.live team partnered with artist @54Ultra to design his first ever Coachella billboard, as well shoot a series of “social spots” ("copywriter's cut") that rolled out through the two weeks of the festival.

Coachella billboards have become the holy grail for OOH in music marketing, and in today’s industry 99% of them are bought purely for the photo as a source of validation to a wider global base of impressions.

We wanted to take that ironic framework and double down by creating a series of commercials – or “social spots” – that told a story around the artist’s debut at the biggest festival in the world. After nearly a year in the works, I’m proud to announce @fraudulent.live ’s debut into the architecture space. It started with working alongside the fine folk @brokerecords on creative direction for a few of their artists -- quite the jump but I appreciate their trust. The custom-built, artist-first space was designed with the goal of being an “anti-major label” office – injecting personality back into an overly corporate and dull music industry environment. Visitors notice this sentiment quickly – the office is fronted by an “out-of-business” record shop facade with old audio equipment in the window display – a satirical nod to the decline of major-label models. A 10-foot red neon sign looms over the facade, a deliberate throwback to the bravado of old Hollywood signage just blocks from the Walk of Fame. The interior delivers a sharp departure from the outside streets, trading restraint for layered architectural detail and custom-built elements throughout. The listening room is defined by a mirror-finish chrome cube enclosure anchored by vintage metal speakers and a concealed Japanese-style lift table, accessed through a 300-pound solid wood door. The material palette relies on walnut millwork, smoked and textured glass block, dark ceramic tile, honed stone, and integrated low-level lighting — a direct reference to traditional Japanese café interiors from the likes of Kengo Kuma and Tadao Ando. And don’t forget the custom “net-30 second” ATM machine that allows artists to take $$ from their budget in real time.”

How come no one ever told me how a Ouija board works? I always imagined one of the participants was deceiving others (which can be true) but it’s also a prime example of ideomotor phenomenon. If two people place their hands onto the planchette and ask a question, their collective unconscious ideas and suggestions, such as focusing on a desired outcome, can create involuntary movement which leads to an answer. So, what does this have to do with The All-American Rejects? Well, @therejects went viral last year by performing small, and often free, popup shows in backyards and bowling alleys. It has since become known as the “House Party Tour” and it is returning. In an effort to drive fan RSVPs, receive submissions for potential locations, raise awareness for the upcoming album, and provide fans with an opportunity to influence decisions, we’ve built a home for the tour at Inspired by the ouija visuals @wyattscottkassin and @tysonritter put together on the previous tour, the client and I envisioned an evolved experience which leaned into the idea of collective “influence.” Instead of a 2D board, we’ve chosen to represent the earth as a 3D globe with a planchette floating on top of it. As fans visit the experience, we plot their locations on the globe as heat and the planchette naturally moves to areas of greater influence, as if every fan had their hands on it. Any fan may choose to “Summon The Rejects” and receive a unique street team link which they can use to drive friends and family to the experience, increasing their influence on the tour. Alongside this dynamic visual, we are driving data capture and pre-saves with @cobrandco and gathering potential host locations with @playhouse.band Very special thanks to @jadeananda_ , @dylabrew , and the team at @fraudulent.live for the beautiful visuals they’ve put together for this. And that leads me to @jennicall . Jenni is the kind of person every band wishes they had behind them. I was impressed from the first email and love how she has turned the great opportunity of the house party tour into a hand-crafted, authentic moment for fans. The party’s not over.

Creative music marketing agency @fraudulent.live partnered with @brokerecords – the fastest growing indie label in the world – to build the first ever “net 30 second” ATM machine. Located in the new Broke office in Los Angeles, each artist signed to the label is given a unique code that allows him or her to take out $$ from their marketing budget in real time. Other capabilities include biometric fingerprint scanning, facial recognition software, an arcade style spinning coin and built-in speakers that play the artists’ music when money is dispensed. “The music industry to this day implements an archaic payment policy that compensates creatives months after their work is done. The drivers were caught blasting the album and giving some real shit attitude to anyone taking videos of them. Never trust a Mike 😣 🎀
