Came home to find these 4 goons trying to steal my gear. One of their coconspirators made off with my 500 series cookie dispenser before I could stop them. Now im stuck with 2 empty 500 series slots. Maybe some pro audio company out there will have sympathy for this tragic event and send me a preamp or two so that I no longer have to be reminded of this horrific invasion of my studio whenever i look over at those two empty rack spaces

Altec 639 appreciation post!
I have somewhere around 60 or 70 microphones. they’re all special & unique in their own ways, and at various points each one has held a place as my favorite. Currently, i think the altec 639 is my favorite mic. Ribbon mics are often very tonally pleasant and musical sounding to me and this mic is no exception, but what makes the 639 especially unique is that in addition to the ribbon element, she also has a moving coil dynamic element with options to switch between ribbon, dynamic, or a blend of both. The sonic possibilities are very flexible, and the variance of sources this mic lends itself to is always delightfully surprising. Hearing anything and everything through the unique perspective and character of this mic melts me. With the figure 8 polar pattern of the ribbon, and the cardioid pattern of the dynamic element its like a lasso around my heart. I love you altec 639, it’s okay, you don’t have to say it back, just know that i love you and i guess for now that will have to be enough for the both of us❤️🐰❤️

Tiny Transistor started on a Steinway in my kitchen in 2020 and transformed into a miscellany of undulating circuits venturing on their own independent journeys whilst orbiting a singular story. Working with Gabriel Galvin @fourfootstudios has always been this way, discovering and building a panoply of feelings, colors, tones, oddities, distractions, culminations, giving them each different tasks and roles to play in the song, yet arriving at the same point amidst something that feels like it’s about to jump off a cliff. Not sure how many hours Gabe spent mixing the bitrman, but looking back on our threads, we had a lot of revisions. If you spend 7 years writing the perfect song, if you travel for months archiving the rarest field recordings, if you refinance your home so you can blow thousands of dollars on your next synth stack, it will never make a difference if you have a shitty engineer. A record is always and foremost only as great as your engineers. Gabe is my best friend. His unusual enthusiasm for kindness and his devotion to keeping his studio clear of flying dicks and egos has made every project we’ve ever done so much fun. Gabe is also insane in the best way and spends days upon days relating his 57 (wrong number it’s more) preamps to each track searching for the perfect treatment. I can honestly say production is my favorite part of being an artist only because the rooms I walk into are filled with people like @fourfootstudios . I once dated a guy who said his worst fear was to not be the smartest person in the room. Could. You. Imagine? 🥴word of advise: Always make sure your production room has people smarter than you in it. Gabe is a quiet genius and everyone should have someone like that by their side at all times.
