Tour starts today! Thankful to have many overseas dates supporting & playing duo with @califone_timrutili and one solo US date in Brooklyn with @wearedevonchurch and special guest. We will probably have some more TBD shows in Ireland and I may have one or two more US shows this run. Will add when I know. I have advanced vinyl copies of my new record Goat Pupil with me (it sounds phenomenal on vinyl, thanks @smashedplastic ) as well as other records&goodies at the truly magical Califone merch table. Tell friends!🫐
“Um, yeah…” — we’re back, and so is @maxknouse , whose new record 𝑮𝒐𝒂𝒕 𝑷𝒖𝒑𝒊𝒍 is out June 12. Last year’s 𝑪𝒉𝒊𝒑𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒌’𝒅 𝑨𝒘𝒂𝒚 was a stone cold classic, and it’s an honor to have Max join the RR ranks. You can hear the first single, “Angel’s Share”, cowritten with @alexdupreemusic & @armsfullofronan , out today!

The very first words you hear on Max Knouse’s fourth album Goat Pupil are “Um, yeah.” The verite audio snippet sums things up nearly as well as the quixotic and gnomic lyrics the Los Angeles-via Sonoran Desert based songwriter and guitarist sprawls across the album, his voice laced with curls of smoke, a hazy woozy drawl. Turn these songs around, or upside down, or sidewise, and they reveal new insights and kaleidoscopic patterns—not through forced wit or over belabored wordplay—but self-evidently.
“The title Goat Pupil could be aspirational, like a name for a student of greatness,” Knouse says, before suggesting a short list of alternate reads. “It could be something about seeing in widescreen—goats have amazing rectangular pupils. Or it could be a self-deterministic thing. Goats are pretty Satanic. I like the paradox of following someone who follows no one. There’s a lot of stuff in the songs about harnessing your own powers of evil or about perseverance while witnessing the evil around you.” — @jasonpwoodbury
April 14 aka “Ruination day” aka our namesake, and with it arrives the very first RR merch—a dad hat beautifully designed by @markaneeley in three different colors (navy, charcoal, khaki). So, if you too wish you played in a rock and roll band, now’s your chance! Super limited, grab one today before they’re gone 🔗
🌸
Ps, while we’re at it, Dan here — yes, new admin reveal. The last few months have been the first label “break” in nearly 5 years, and it’s been nice to take stock of what RR is, and was, and could become. The gist, music rocks. I’m so excited for an absolutely killer roster of new things coming soon.
Ruination, for artists by artists, doing our best and happy to be doing it with you. Lots of love ❤️🔥

“Waves” 🌊 the hauntingly beautiful, final single from Jackie West’s upcoming record Silent Century (Feb 27). A meditation on the unknown doors that open up with every ending, a reminder “that will all change in time.”
Jackie shares her inspiration from Rainer Maria Rilke:
“…to days in quiet, restrained rooms and to mornings by the sea, to the sea itself, to seas, to nights of travel that rushed along high overhead and went flying with all the stars...”
And don’t miss the release show on March 8 at TV Eye!
Welcome to Spider Towns 🌵 today, were thrilled to share that we’ll be distributing one of RR’s favorite records of 2025 by @old.pup (with art by @technique_street !). Previously sold out, perhaps forever, Spider Towns is now back with a second pressing and we’ve got copies in stock for ya!
~~~~~
Old Pup is a warmly haunted folk outfit led by Milwaukee-based pedal steel player/songwriter, Will Hansen, who writes lyrically vivid (at-times experimental) country-tinged songs. Sophomore album, Spider Towns released independently on February 28 & features intimate, ethereal recordings captured in living rooms, warehouse hallways, & wide-open fields spanning Milwaukee, New Orleans, & New Mexico. A mighty cast of friends & collaborators, including core members Ben Boehm, Ellie Jackson, Drue DeVente, Nate Kinsman & Johanna Rose seamlessly enter & exit the songs, adding touches of personality & texture throughout. Hansen’s lyrical dexterity is at the forefront of this latest collection, seamlessly weaving the everyday with the interstellar. In the words of songwriter Chris Acker, “Old Pup is Rosetta-stoned.”
New @jacquelynwest single, “Thunder Ideal”, is out today!
Emerging from shrouds of feedback, West’s voice soars above the band’s propulsion, before the track explodes into cacophony and catharsis in the coda. About the track, she says:
“Crying is like inner dusting — all emotional accumulations clear up, letting light through. NYC’s early spring atmosphere has a lot of that— heavy hot atmosphere, building, inevitability bursting into cool rain. Thunder Ideal is simply the expression of emotional release and how we can remember we are also nature.“
