I have started production on my third personal animated film, which is adapting a vintage children’s book from 1964. I was given permission by the estate of the author and have just moved past the storyboard phase.
It will be my most ambitious work, including field recordings, narration & full dialogue. I’ll be excited to share it with you along the way 🦞 #2danimation

Every few months I am trying to document some process of my new short film, an animated adaptation of an underwater children’s book from the mid-sixties. This is partly a therapeutic exercise given the length of production - amidst the first footage of animation, I’m finalizing scripts for dialogue to hopefully be recorded soon. The voice actors are special to me
The green-tinted punched animation paper (which eerily matches the book’s signature washes of green shades) was sourced from Japan and made possible by the generous help from @yohei.is.yohei ’s mother in Tokyo
I am ecstatic to be working w/ @jimputnamjimputnam (Radar Brothers) on the soundtrack, one of my absolute favorite musicians and songwriters // a hero!
We will also be including fully analogue aquatic field recordings courtesy of my friend and experimental sound artist @nickkeeling_rail including an upcoming trio of Nick’s to Mexico

I had such a wonderful conversation interviewing Rachel Love of the legendary Dolly Mixture trio, ahead of her recent solo records getting repressed by @slumberlandrecords . Her gorgeous record Lyra is one of my favorites of the last several years, thank you my friend Tati @queridita for introducing me to it. Tati has the excellent radio show @cosmicpeekaboo // Today at AD, we talked about the early Dolly days in Cambridge, Robyn Hitchcock tuning guitars, @lightheadedband , the impetus for her late career solo surge and much more. 🙏 @racheldollymixture
