Let’s talk about specs- Specs are the skelton in the closet for the filmmaker. They’re a major trigger word in this industry and everyone will tell you something different about whether they’re important or not. We think that just like all other art, the power of them lie within their intention. If you’re making something that you genuinly enjoy with no rules and no holds barred, then make your damn spec. If you’re doing it for anyone else but you, spend your time doing something else. We chose a brand we dig as a vehicle to drive something we’ve always wanted to make but at the end of the day, we had so much fun making this little ad. We’ve waited a long time for an opportunity to make a vibrant and poppy ad. That opportunity has not yet come so we made it happen in our own way. Encouraging other film folk to go through their on-cam monitor SD cards and see what little gems you have from over the years. New trend we call it. Looking at old shoots from the last damn near 10 years really puts this journey into perspective. There’s so many shoots we’ve forgotten about. All sorts of people we haven’t seen in years. Besties laughing on set.
