Overdue life update but felt timely to APAHM: last year I had the honor of being the Activist in Residence for UCLA Asian American Studies Center. During my residency I developed training curriculum and lead a 4-week workshop series on social media strategy for LA Asian American & Pacific Islander advocacy organizations. Those trainings then led to the opportunity to co-teach a course to UCLA students on “Social Media for Narrative Change” alongside the brilliant Karen Umemoto. We paired students with local nonprofit organizations and equipped them to lead their own campaigns and develop content. For many students this was their first time making a graphic or video for social media and I was simply blown away with their final projects. From cat memes on civic engagement, to beautiful hand drawn illustrations, and connecting their personal stories to their organizations, they built narrative power for Asian American movements. In this time of increased repression, it’s important that we continue to tell our stories to share what we are fighting for and to show how beautiful the world we want to live in can be🤗 It has been such a transformative year and a half with the bruin community. Thank you to the organizations that participated in the trainings: API RISE, Pacific Islander Health Partnership, API Forward Movement, Little Tokyo Service Center, Nikkei Progressives, Survivor Love Letter, Teach AAPI, & Pacific Ties as well as our course partners Thai CDC, API RISE, CAUSE, Foundations & Futures & Asian American Drug Abuse Program. Immense gratitude to the incredible staff of the UCLA Asian American Studies Center who treated me like family and inspired me through their dedication to the preservation and education of our histories💙

📢Want to help protect our public lands?  Nature for All and coalition partners invite you to attend the LA Roadless Rule Town Hall on May 18th. The U.S. Forest Service is proposing to roll back the Roadless Area Conservation Rule (also known as the Roadless Rule) while limiting public input in the process. Rescinding the Roadless Rule would open nearly 60 million acres of national forest to logging, mining, and other extractive purposes—with negative impacts to clean water supplies, wildfire resilience, wildlife habitat and outdoor recreation. Join the LA Town Hall on May 18th to make your voice heard. Come and learn more about the Roadless Rule, how it helps protect our public lands, and provide public comment (spoken or written).  Click the link in our bio to RSVP! Details: Date: May 18, 2026 Time: 3:30-6:30PM Location: Duarte Elks Lodge 2436 East Huntington Drive Duarte, CA 91010 @activesgv @amigosrios @day1do @cofem @forwardapi @outwardboundadventures @sierraclubangeles @calwildorg @npcapics @greenlatinos @latinooutdoors

Join us for our first-ever CAUSE the Vote Community Run/Walk at the Rose Bowl Loop on Monday, May 25 from 9AM–2PM. We’re kicking off Memorial Day and the first weekend of early in-person voting with a morning centered on wellness, community, and civic engagement. Come walk or run the Rose Bowl 3-mile loop with friends, family, and neighbors! In partnership with API Forward Movement (@forwardapi ), the City of Pasadena (@cityofpasadena ), and the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk (@lacountyrrcc ). We will have an official mobile vote center onsite so attendees can drop off their ballot or vote in-person right at the loop. This event is part of CAUSE's Together We Vote: API Get Out the Vote Fest taking place across Los Angeles County from May 23 - June 2. Through community events and neighborhood activations, Together We Vote is focused on bringing voting and civic engagement directly into the spaces where community already gathers. This run/walk is one of many events happening across LA County to build connection, participation, and community. Participation does not require voting, and this is not an official 5K race. Everyone is welcome. Please share with your friends, families, and local run/walk clubs! the federal cuts to #SNAP / #CalFresh actively harm our communities. Jackie, co-lead of the #Food4All campaign, spoke out against the false argument that we must choose who deserves to have access to food at the #IDA press conference. Everyone in California, regardless of your immigration status or age, deserves access to the food you need and want. You can find the full press conference on @caimmigrant 's facebook. Learn more about the food benefit cuts for humanitarian immigrants in our new blog post! We break down the changes and share how you can take action 🫵

This Saturday, April 18, the Alhambra Council PTA along with Fremont PTA and other AUSD PTA groups, will be celebrating Founders Day. This special evening honors individuals and groups chosen by their respective PTA groups for their service to their PTA and community. Fremont PTA’s award recipients have gone above and beyond for our school and community. We have so much gratitude for all they do.

As spring arrives, the APIFM Food Roots Harvest team is excited to announce the investment in our 2026 van branding efforts! In-line with our Asian and Pacific Islander communities, we draw upon the cultural roots and significance of the spring season which signifies growth, renewal and the rejuvenation of life in China and East Asia. It is deeply rooted in agricultural cycles, signaling the end of winter’s dormancy and the return of warmth and new life. This investment is important not only to the Food Roots Harvest team but also to our partners and the communities we serve. Our partners and communities can now easily see us delivering locally grown produce and rescued produce to the underserved communities in the greater L.A. area. Lastly, The APIFM/FRH team was extremely impressed with the partnership and workmanship of the @IDGRAPHX team located in the Los Angeles area. The owner (Hector) and his team were timely and professional throughout the entire process. The graphics quality is excellent and we are happy to work with them in the future should the opportunity arise. . . . #FoodRootsHarvest #FarmToCommunity #SpringRenewal #SustainableFood #FoodJustice
