Erasing history and censoring science in our national parks violates the very ideals our country was built on and completely undermines the mission of the National Park Service. We’re standing up for history and science; will you join us? Take action in our bio 🔗 Wear your support with our new design: npca.org/store

What could our parks be in the next 250 years? That’s up to us all. In honor of America’s 250th year, NPCA is commemorating everything that makes our national parks extraordinary — the landscapes, the wildlife and the stories that make us who we are. Stories like the one shared by NPCA’s Vice President of Communications, Amy Hagovsky, in our newest blog. Amy grew up only 80 miles from Women’s Rights National Historical Park, but she never visited. “Standing there, I was struck by how easy it had been for me to overlook a place so pivotal to our history.” With every plaque read and photo seen, Amy’s resolution to protect sites like this grew stronger. “Parks are a promise made to us generations before, and one we make to those who will come generations after us.” And right now, we are the generation that needs to protect national parks. ❇️ Because they are beautiful. ❇️ Because they tell America’s story. ❇️ Because these are the places that make us. Read Amy's story in our bio.

Or the view once you get there? ◾ Is it learning something new about the park’s history or ecosystem? We asked NPCA staff to share what makes their park trips unforgettable and give YOU ideas for your next adventure. Is it possible to capture a national park in a single word? Here’s my attempt for Joshua Tree National Park! I chose Joshua Tree because it was the first national park I ever visited, and its surreal landscape and rich history has always been inspiring to me. This year, as America turns 250, the National Parks Conservation Association is inviting everyone to create their own PARKS artwork to capture our favorite places, and what we want for our parks over the next 250 years. This anniversary is a chance to celebrate America through our national parks and take meaningful action to protect them. And that’s exactly what NPCA’s United by Parks campaign is all about! Fill the page and the letters with artwork that lifts up the parks you love, the stories they hold and the future you want for them. Any medium, any style, any story! Download the template and submit yours here: npca.org/unitedbyparks Get your artist cap on and create one now! And if you do, tag me! I’d love to see what you create :) #ad #npca #nationalparks #nature #unitedbyparks

As I take in some of the most iconic views in the Southwest, I keep coming back to how much these places shaped me — I didn’t even realize it until I was standing in them. It’s easy to see why the Grand Canyon is considered one of the seven natural wonders of the world. It’s a must-see for millions of people every single year! But hotter temperatures are transforming the park’s ecosystems, heat rescues on the trails are increasing and the Colorado River that runs through it is running out of water — and at Saguaro National Park in Arizona, over 1.6 million giant saguaros make up the largest forest of its kind in the world. But extreme heat, invasive plants and the wildfires they spark in a landscape that never evolved to handle them are putting these iconic cacti at risk. This is happening across our national parks. Glaciers are melting, species are disappearing and landscapes that took millions of years to form are changing faster than we ever imagined. Our national parks belong to all of us. Once they’re gone, we don’t get them back. Protect our parks today: npca.org/seeitwhileyoucan.

We’re giving you the aux cord! 🎧 No national parks road trip is complete without the perfect playlist. Help us curate the soundtrack to our United by Parks road trip this week! We’re starting with “See It While You Can” by @Mason_Via . It’s not just a song that prompts us to start that national park road trip sooner than later, it’s also a reminder that parks need advocates like YOU to ensure they are here, protected and thriving for generations to come. ⛰️ 🏜️ What songs do you need to hear on a road trip? Comment below ⬇️ and we’ll add a selection to our Spotify playlist. 🎶

Visiting a national park this summer? Expect bumps in the road.🚘 On top of a 25% cut to Park Service staff, this administration canceled managed access systems at Yosemite, Mount Rainier and Arches. And a free-for-all approach is being pushed at parks across the country, where remaining staff are prioritizing visitor access over park protection. Our national parks are forever – but we believe the cracks in the façade are starting to show. Our new blog by former Park Service ranger and visitation program lead Cassidy Jones shares more about what to expect, how to plan for your park trip – and why it’s important to speak up! Come on in! It’s a United By Parks road trip. 🚗 It hasn’t been an easy year for parks and there’s no telling what will happen next, but we DO know that national parks are the places that make us. As America celebrates 250 years, we’re asking ourselves: “What lands and stories do we want future generations to inherit from us?” ✨ Drive, bike and hike through your memories and America’s history with us this week! We're celebrating the places that make us through stories, music and more. #UnitedByParks Your map for this week is available now at npca.org/roadtrip!

Today, the Trump administration put conservation on the backburner once again, rolling back the Public Lands Rule. This action strips protections on shared public lands across the West, and is a missed opportunity for the Bureau of Land Management to steward these lands under a multiple-use mandate that puts conservation on an equal footing with other uses of public lands. ⚠️ “This administration chose to eliminate the Public Lands Rule, despite its overwhelming public support, at the very moment where extreme drought and a changing climate are pushing our public lands to the brink. This is a major loss for the long-term stewardship of millions of acres of public land that belong to all of us, many surrounding our prized national parks." - Beau Kiklis, NPCA's Associate Director of Energy and Landscape Conservation. 📸: © Ben Graham/Dreamstime.

Grizzly bears are Super Moms, but what about black bears? You may be surprised! The maternal instincts of wildlife in our national parks and marine national monuments are as wildly diverse as the places themselves. Learn which wildlife moms go the extra mile and which ones hit the road in our bio link. ⭐
