Rising soon on Milwaukee’s RiverWalk, The Edison is set to become the world’s tallest timber building at 375 ft when completed in 2027 🌍✨
Designed by Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture with Neutral, the 31-storey tower pioneers sustainable high-rise living through a hybrid mass timber system of CLT panels, glulam beams and columns, composite decks, and concrete cores - eliminating the need for structural steel. Nearly 100,000 cubic feet of lumber will shape the tower, creating a bold new benchmark for carbon-conscious construction.
Beyond its scale, The Edison is designed to meet PHIUS 2021 Passive House certification and pursue Living Building Challenge 4.0 Core, setting unprecedented standards in energy efficiency and resident well-being.

We are thrilled to share that Neutral has submitted a development proposal to the City of Madison for the Brayton Lot RFP.
Partnering with a team of both local and global experts – @arupgroup@gehlpeople@forefrontstructural@cdsmithconstruction@ovilighting and dbHMS – we have reimagined the vacant lot just two blocks from the State Capitol.
Our proposal includes a sustainable, mixed-use development featuring 414 new homes (including affordable units), office spaces, retail, new public parks, and a Neutral Health & Wellness Club.

Last month, we broke ground on Neutral 1005 N Edison St – our flagship development and most integrated project to date.
Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson and Alderman Robert Bauman spoke to the positive impact this project will have on our local communities, while Neutral CEO Nate Helbach and Neutral Partner and CPO Daniel Glaessl shared insights on the development process and design.
With innovative sustainability and wellness features, this building is designed to bring a holistic lifestyle to the residents who will call it home. It represents the culmination of six years of iteration, collaboration, and bold thinking from the Neutral team.

Monday marked a significant milestone as we broke ground on Neutral 1005 N Edison St in Milwaukee.
This project marks the beginning of a new chapter for Juneau Town, with 353 new homes to support local businesses and strengthen connections to jobs, in what will be the largest mass timber building in the U.S.
@neutral_edison represents the culmination of six years of work. It’s our largest undertaking yet, and we’re proud to take this next step with the Milwaukee community, whilst pursuing Passive House certification (one of the leading and strictest certifications for energy-efficient buildings) and the Living Building Challenge (focused on sustainable buildings and overall resident well-being).
More than a sustainable structure, Neutral Edison is built around the principles of wellness, longevity, and intentional living – a blueprint for how we believe buildings should be built and people should live.

The final mass timber panels being installed at @517_by_neutral after just 22 days of construction. It was a pleasure to host our investors for this momentous occasion.
Nate Helbach (CEO) and Daniel Glaessl (CPO) walked the guests through the building, showing the panelized walls and CLT decks.
