this monday, march 9th, our friend @flyengkte of @komakasecoffee will be sharing our space with us! he'll be serving some special coffees from popular roasters @daturacoffee_paris and @hydrangeacoffeeroaster , while we'll be slinging shots and doing our regular service. it's rare to find coffee from these roasters in japan, so it's a good chance to try them! we're excited to have him with us for a day, so come by and say hi!

As a little (big) treat, I gifted myself the most beautiful coffee experience at SF’s coveted coffee tasting table, Komakase, which pops up on select weekends each month. I was lucky to snag a last-min reservation on @exploretock for the 6-person tasting table. They also offer a walk-in menu, which I’m definitely going to return for soon. Paris cult fave @daturacoffee_paris was the roaster being showcased. This tasting was so beautifully executed that I shed an internal tear of joy. One waft of the second cup in the pour over duo stopped me mid-sentence. I knew I was in for a cup of brilliance. While we watched as the first pour over was being prepared, we sipped on our sparkling cascara-based welcome drinks. From the two menus, I chose the one that offered a pour over duo and two house-crafted, coffee-based drinks that were minimal in ingredients and maximal in deliciousness. The other menu is all pour overs. Tempting, but I wanted to see what they would do with the other coffee concoctions on the menu. And they were delightful and intriguing. And since I’m greedy and didn’t want the coffee nirvana to end, I ordered the 1 & 1 add-on to compare the naked espresso to espresso with milk. Chatting with Kieran, Josh, and the whole table about their coffee experience, how they approach the preparation for each coffee, and our favorite coffee spots locally and globally was an added bonus. @komakasecoffee has really brought such a unique experience in the specialty coffee space, and I’m really blessed to have been able to experience this service a handful of times now (shoutout to @iamjosevgarcia for the swoop recently 🫡). Bringing a unique Omakase style service to specialty coffee, @specialtycoffeeguy and @flyengkte highlight the coffees and those who’re involved to get that bean to your special cup and present it in such an artistic and craft way..
