Averaging ten (small) cups a day, I’m comfortable concluding that things are similar enough that any combination here is more than satisfactory.
There are differences, but I don’t think they’re worth making great effort to pursue and overoptimize. Learning your equipment will go farther than buying something and hoping it fits what you currently do.
I’ve invited folks across skill/knowledge levels to try various brews, but I don’t recall many having their life changed by a given “grail” gear setup.
Beans first, water quality second, toys third.
*lots of stuff here borrowed/exchanged to try to find differences

/coffee/2025
In 2025, instead of logging beans, I shared 146kg of my roasts and put out several resources to log all the types of stuff out there in coffee.
/drippers
I don’t believe drippers make or break the brewing outcome, and I’ve purchased too many on that assumption.
But it sure does seem like each one is sooo special and unique.
So here’s an archive - perhaps you’ll find things are more similar than they are different after seeing a hundred at once.
