A short demo showing Flowfal in action. Here two FlowfalMap Max For Live plug-ins are controlling the stock Ableton Wavetable synth. The movement is coming from a standard Samsung Android watch running the Flowfal app. - The watch roll movement is controlling the filter cut-off frequency - The watch pitch movement is controlling the wavetable position Flowfal allows you to add a lot of musical expression to any sound, especially when playing live. #abletonlive #maxforlive #flowfal #movement #electronicmusic #ableton #installation #interactive #wearable #dance #motion

Using Fowfal to control breakbeats. One breakbeat is running all the time and audible. The second breakbeat is also always running, but notes from that are only allowed through when there is movement of the phone. The MIDI gate stays open all the time the phone is moving, so you can add short or long bursts of the second break, depending on how you move the phone. This allows you to create lots of different versions of a break in a very musical way, adding a lot of interesting texture, especially when playing live. #abletonlive #maxforlive #drumandbass #breakbeat #electronicmusic #flowfal #movement #dance #wearable #ableton #jungle

This demo shows @flowfal controlling a @touchdesigner patch. Movement from a Samsung smartwatch running Flowfal is triggering and altering the sounds being produced in @ableton Live. You could also use a phone or a Flowfal wand to control it in the same way. As well as controlling the sounds, we are also using three FlowfalOsc devices to send Roll, Pitch and Yaw data over OSC. That data can then be used by other applications. In this case, we have set up Touch Designer to receive this OSC information, and we are using it to alter several parameters of a POP based Touch Designer patch we are running. With Flowfal you can map any kind of movement from a phone, smartwatch or wand to any mappable parameter in Live, as well as sending that data over OSC, so the options are endless. #abletonlive #maxforlive #visuals #touchdesigner #flowfal

Visitors to our stand at @superbooth_berlin trying out controlling Granulator II in @ableton Live with our magic Flowfal wands. The roll movement of the wand controls the playing position. The pitch movement controls the grain size. You can also move the sound around in 3D by pointing the wand in the direction you want the sound. The audio is in Binaural so best listened to on headphones. The wands are just a casing for a Samsung Android Watch - you can also just put the watches on your wrist. #superbooth #flowfal #abletonlive #maxmsp #granularsynth

You can now download Version 1.4.4 from the Flowfal website. Here is what’s new: 👉 There is a new repeat mode on FlowfalMidiNote plugin allows you to repeat the triggering of MIDI notes at a given time interval of 1/4 notes or milliseconds 👉 Flowfal now runs in standalone @c74connect Max/MSP. It is delivered as a set of patchers you can paste into your own Max setups. Features are similar to the Max4Live version. 🎶 Music by @thunkist #flowfal #maxmsp #max #abletonlive #movement

Some snippets from a @nicola.woodham x @thunkist R&D session, London, March 2006. The audio is binaural, so best listened to with headphones. Nicola is triggering sounds using one or two @flowfal enabled smartwatches, and in some cases using Flowfal to change the processing on her vocals. Her movements are also moving the sounds around the spatial audio setup. All samples by Nicola Woodham. Flowfal production by Thunkist. #soundart #performance #movement #flowfal #spatialaudio

This is an excerpt of the @thunkist live set from @quad_tod at the @goldenlion_todmorden To give an idea of the surround sound, the audio is binaural, so best listened to with headphones. Two magic @flowfal digital wands were handed out to the audience for this performance, with some of the sounds then being triggered by their movements. The rest of the sounds were played by Thunkist, using two more digital wands and a keyboard. The performance was in quadraphonic surround sound, so both the audience and Thunkist were able to move the sounds around the space with the wands. Full length versions of the performance are on YouTube - in normal format and also as a 360-degree fully pan-able version - link in the @thunkist bio. Full length audio, in stereo and ambisonic mixes, are available on Bandcamp and Soundcloud - link in the @thunkist bio. Audience members @tate_1975 and @jezboyjez shown here waving the wands around. #spatialaudio #livemusic #electronicmusic #dubtechno #abletonlive

This is an initial R&D proof of concept of a collaboration between @pell_ensemble @handmadesound and @thunkist - a spatial-sound, 360° film dance work that confronts the brutal industrial history of Magnitogorsk, echoing the human cost of labour through bodies, movement, and sound. The music is motion-activated. Using smartwatches on each of her wrists, Rebecca triggers the sounds in the piece and moves them around the surround sound space. For the live performance of this, John will play woodwinds, also manipulated by movement from a watch on his wrist. To give an idea of the surround sound, the audio is binaural, so best listened to with headphones. Full length normal and pan-able 360 degree versions on YouTube - links in @thunkist bio. Movement choreographed and performed by Rebecca Evans @pell_ensemble Music written and performed by John Biddulph @handmadesound @flowfal and spatial audio production by Simon East @thunkist Thanks to Tom Bromley at @burnt_orchid for the use of his amazing workshop as the filming location #contemporarydance #experimentalmusic #spatialaudio #woodwind #flowfal
