Mosaic #8 ❤️❤️❤️🧡🧡🧡💛💛💛🤍🤍🤍 Roland TR-808 27.5” x 47.5” Stained and Ceramic Mosaic. I started conjuring up the idea of the project pretty much right after the release of the TR-1000. I figured what better way to pay homage and preserve this ancient relic of music history that continues to shape, inspire, and define new genre & sounds, than to create a mosaic that would last forever. After studying mosaics in Greece and then learning the craft here in the US I’m going to continue to work the ancient medium into my own storytelling and flip my styles into it to create a body of work to show the world when the time comes. *Pearls (Round 3) 60”x30” Ceramic and Glass Mosaic on Wood. This is the third time I revisited a painting I did in 2024 except this time it was my first time mixing ceramic with glass in the mosaic realm. This 2nd mosaic was started in Austin at @atxmosaicworkshop during my residency with the assistance of @ddadabbla and the workshop family. We got it transported back home, I finished in Flint at my studio, and it took the better part of a whole month to get it where I wanted it to be. Mural Study. 24”x48” mixed media painting on gallery wrapped canvas. “Following the 2025 rescission of over $1 billion in federal funding, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting voted to dissolve in early 2026, forcing PBS, NPR, and local stations to face massive layoffs, program cancellations, and potential closures. I wanted to highlight some of the older programming in mural form, specifically “Reading Rainbow” that encouraged and inspired young readers and creatives. Usually before or after I work on a public art project I paint out an alternative study on canvas just to have it around for the archives.
