The Cartomania exhibition of my collection of 19th century studio portraits is on at the Kiosk in Drogheda. It continues until next week. I'll be there today Saturday 8th November and giving a talk next Thursday evening (details to follow). The beautiful little fanzine (designed by Niall.McCormack) is available through cailleach books: https://www.cailleachbooks.ie/products/paraphrase-1-cartomania Link also in bio. Thanks so much to Brian Hegarty, Rita Hynes, my co-curator Michelle Lalor, Niall, David Monahan and Conor McMahon for making it happen. #cdv #drogheda #Photography #19thcentury

I’m giving a talk tomorrow lunchtime 21/03/23 via @publicrecordofficeni on a group of young #Cavan and #Monaghan photographers who were active in the 1890s. I first looked at this topic for Breifne Historical Society journal in 2010 but since then much more information has become available. This includes the group’s connections with India and I now know what happened to them in later life. Zoom available https://bit.ly/42sKKQP #photohistory #ireland

It has long been an ambition of mine to get an article published in the Journal of the History of Photography and I finally did it. My article on a War of Independence IRA surveillance file is now published in a special issue on policing and photography edited by Jason Hill and Zeynep Devrim Gürsel. Thanks to Eve Morrison for her help. You can see the original album in the Imaging Conflict exhibition, Collins Barracks. /doi/full/10.1080/03087298.2022.2118452 Page from I.R.A.
