🎬 It’s here. "The 3100"—80 million years in the making and more than a year in the making for us—is finally going live. We logged 52 field days, 12 trips, 61 boats, and 380+ miles across 7 of Idaho’s legendary whitewater rivers (not to mention countless hours in front of computers) to bring this to life. Episode 1—"The Selway River"—of this six part docuseries is live now on @visitidaho ’s YouTube. Tap the link in bio to watch. New episodes drop weekly featuring the Bruneau, Salmon, Snake, Lochsa & St. Joe, and Payette rivers. Huge thanks to Visit Idaho, @maddenmedia , @idahooutfittersandguides + so many more. Huge shout out to some key people: @therealmarkfisher , @mjbanker , @scottyrog , @sophie_danison , @cd.anderson , @andrearayburn , @andrejwomack , @aharon_bram , @lifecycle_films , @danolsen.tv , and Chris Liang (Audio Dojo). #FridayStoke #NeverBeTheSame #The3100 #IdahoWhitewater

Hello from the desert! The whole team has been down in Moab for the last 2 weeks working hard on a series for iFIT. Visiting some of our favorite trails and viewpoints for the iFIT platform has been such a treat! We've already logged over 200 miles on our feet, and even more in the saddle for a bike series. Scott Rogers, Moab local and one of our camera operators for the trip, snapped this shot of iFIT trainer Hannah Eden running above the Colorado River. This canyon country was carved over millions of years by the power of this river, and it's a joy and a privilege to shoot beautiful images here, and truly, just to exist here for a brief period of time and really try to take in the splendor of this place. Because of its uniqueness, Moab has a long history of film production; from John Wayne's cowboy epics, to dozens of sci-fi films, and even the opening scene of Mission Impossible 2! In fact, in this exact spot in the summer of 1990, Ridley Scott filmed the iconic last scene of Thelma and Louise.

Happy May! As we turn the page from April into May, our team is all heading down to the desert for a 2-week shoot and we couldn't be more excited! The April Showers have led to May Flowers, and we've got our eyes out for Fishhook, Prickly Pear, Claret Cup and even more of the delights that the desert has to offer. There's something special about romping around the desert with good people and an eye for the abundant life that persists in southern Utah. One of the best parts of photography is slowing down, embracing the moment, focusing in on the beauty, sitting with it, snapping a shot, and savoring the whole thing.

April 13-20th is International Dark Sky Week, and in the Tetons, as well as down in our Moab satellite office, the night sky is absolutely putting on a show this week. (seen by this epic shot from the Utah desert). As we all collectively come back to Earth after watching the Artemis II astronauts capture some of the most amazing space photography in decades, it's such a treat to be in a certified Dark Sky Place and to just look up from the comfort of our feet firmly planted on the Earth. With today's new moon and the Milky Way emerging, we're giving ourselves some serious neck cramps just gawking at the night sky. Hah! Check out the International Dark Sky Places map here. /what-we-do/international-dark-sky-places/ You'll definitely find us out this weekend shooting some astrophotography and just taking in the awe and splendor of our night skies. This one was captured on a team favorite - the Sony 20mm f/1.8; it's one of the best! One thing about the night sky, though, is that you don't need any fancy gear, you just need to get out there and open your eyes!

Looking back 1 year ago today, we were packing up our bags and cameras and heading over to Kathmandu. Wild! Nepal is an absolutely incredible place, but to be honest, the travel itself is pretty rough. Our team flew with over 60 checked bags of camera gear and personal equipment (sorry if you were in line behind us at the check-in kiosk, hah!) Last year’s Spring Everest expedition was a real challenge and an amazing adventure, and the film will be released soon. We’re super stoked to share it when it drops! @scottyrog snapped this photo of veteran guide @deanostaples , descending Mera Peak during a group acclimatization mission before we jumped over to Everest Base Camp. Mera is a popular trekking and acclimatization peak, topping out at 6461 meters, or 21,190 feet. While it was good to touch that altitude briefly when we first arrived, the summit of Mera Peak is also roughly the same altitude as our Camp 2 on Mt. Everest, where we ended up spending a couple of weeks during the project. Time spent at altitude is no joke, and no matter how much we train ahead of time, living up that high just slowly deteriorates the body. It feels pretty worth it to be in such a beautiful location and to be able to get such beautiful shots.

Looking back at some of the beautiful places we've been over the last couple of decades, one that stands out the most is Bhutan. The high Himalayan peaks, the beautiful monasteries, a culture so boldly itself, thanks to years of preservation of cultural tradition and identity. One of the most amazing elements of Bhutan's culture is the concept of Gross National Happiness, or GNH. This is the philosophy that collective happiness amongst the people of the country is integral to success. GNH prioritizes spiritual, cultural, environmental, and good governance well-being over mere economic growth, or GDP. It's a novel concept, and one that really shines through in the way that people live their lives. The greatest gift of traveling to far-away places, capturing images, and telling stories, is the connections you make, the inspiration that follows, and the hope that we can take these ideas home to continue becoming better versions of ourselves.
