Repost from @angelica_angles • The day has arrived! I am so honoured to have contributed to the NASA Perseverance Mission by taking part in the landing site selection for the rover, and today she will land on MARS! For the landing, the Iceland Space Agency has invited me to do a livestream and panel along with Dr. Michael Thorpe from NASA Johnson Space Center and Ari Kristinn Jónsson from Reykjavik University just before the rover’s touchdown. We will discuss the mission, the importance of sample return, Iceland as an important Mars analog, and of course, the landing of Perseverance rover itself! The link for the talk is on my bio and we will start at 19:00 UTC (3am Hong Kong time!) Go Perseverance go! 🚀 Credits to @memoriesbystephanie @international_women_of_hk @icelandspaceagency . . . #womeninspace #moon #planetmars #welivetoexplore #NASAsocial #NASA #space #icelandspaceagency #cosmos #expedition #mission #planetmars #ISA #awesomeearth #astrobiology #mars2020 #ourplanetdaily #mars #womeninscience #TED #astronaut #science #extraterrestrial #perseverance #robot #curiosity #spacex #STEM #planetearth #countdowntomars

This introduction to The Explorers Club Hong Kong Chapter (ECHK) was made from footage captured by our incredible members on expedition and Zooming in to share their thoughts during the current COVID-19 quarantine. The film was produced and edited by ECHK members Mark Fisher, Eric Daft (@fishercreative )and Mike Sakas (@sakasphoto ), and narrated by ECHK founder Michael Barth (@barthme ). Indeed, exploration has never been more important.

Attempts to find what is among the most famous of all wrecks - “It was a balance between exploration and science." A quick and informative read from BBC to wrap up the week, have a great weekend all! Sir Ernest Shackelton's legendary Imperial-Trans-Antarctic expedition left his ship Endurance under the water of Weddell Sea in 1915, will anyone ever find this lost ship? /news/science-environment-52376090 Thanks @the_explorers_club for sharing! #explore #antarctica #scienceandexploration

THE ROY CHAPMAN ANDREWS CENTENNIAL EXPEDITION In June 2018, The Explorers Club Hong Chapter (ECHK) (@explorershk ) led a multidisciplinary team of scientists and adventurers over 1500 miles across the formidable Gobi Desert to revisit and expand upon the original Roy Chapman Andrews expeditions of the 1920’s that produced the world’s first fossilized dinosaur eggs. The Hong Kong Chapter’s “collaboration over conquest” approach to exploration, and their groundbreaking use of NASA imaging and mapping technology to advance the field of paleontology, yielded historic results that would have been unimaginable in Andrews' day. This is the trailer for the upcoming documentary that tells the story of their expedition. Supported by @infiniti Video Credit: @fishercreative Please visit @explorershk for more information. As we approach a year since our award winning @the_explorers_club Flag Expedition to the Gobi desert, we've been asked to share a little more about the initial concept and idea behind the expedition from a technology standpoint. This is from our Lead Scientist and Club Member Dr Scott Nowicki. #explorershk
