On Friday, hundreds of New Yorkers gathered at the Church Of The Village, joined by @delgadoforny to chart a vision for a New York that stands up—not capitulates—to Trump on climate.
Hundreds of New Yorkers called @govkathyhochul , who declined to send a representative, demanding she stop the $3.2 billion Trump-backed fracked gas Williams NESE Pipeline and instead build out the mandated 15 GW of public renewables.
@delgadoforny , in stark contrast, outlined a New Yorkers that could stand up by blocking disastrous fossil fuel expansion, rapidly building out renewables, passing the #NYHEAT and #ASAP Acts, ending fossil fuel subsidies, and actually enforcing our climate laws.
It’s time to end the era of capitulation to Trump in New York. It’s time to stand up on climate, affordability, jobs, and justice.

Today, over a thousand young people and activists marched across the Brooklyn Bridge to tear down the Pillars of Fossil Fuels. We demand that funders divest from fossil fuels, polluters stop poisoning our communities, and leaders finally take action on the climate crisis.
We heard from @emilyassembly calling on @govkathyhochul to sign #ClimateSuperfund to hold fossil fuels accountable. We heard from indigenous leaders from @legadogaia and @blackindigenousliberation calling for an end to extractive industry. We also heard from @summerofheat about why they’re using civil disobedience to take down Wall Street. AND SO MANY MORE!
We love our community and all the activists who showed up today. We won’t stop fighting until we #endfossilfuels!!!

75,000 people marched today to send a clear message to President Biden: we are watching. We are watching you approve pipelines, and we are watching as you delay declaring a climate emergency. We are watching as the Weather Channel repeats the same terrifying message, that this year, this week, this day, is the hottest ever recorded. We are watching our futures disappear, because how can we be the next president or author or scientist on a dying planet? We are watching communities suffer, poisoned by fossil fuel companies that know exactly what they are doing. We are waiting for your leadership, and the leadership of the US on the global stage, to change this, to start acting like this is the emergency you say it is. We, the people, are watching and waiting and we will not back down on our future, our health, or our communities.

One message is clear from Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels Conference in Santa Marta: there’s no just transition without ending U.S. imperialism.
Whether in Iran or Venezuela, in the caribbean or the pacific, the United States military acts as an occupying force securing routes of extraction and of genocide. In addition, it remains the world’s largest polluter, exempt from emissions counting under the Paris Agreement.
We need a future free of fossil fuels; in order to achieve it, we must call out and challenge U.S. imperialism.
We joined with Susana Muhamed - former Colombian minister of the environment - outside the First International Conference on Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels here in Santa Marta, Colombia!
The message is clear: it’s time for our movements to follow the lead of the global south and phase out fossil fuels!!!
We’re here on the ground in Santa Marta, Colombia, for the First International Conference on Transitioning Away From Fossil Fuels. We’re joining with youth, indigenous peoples, and civil society of the global south to demand an end to U.S. imperialism and extractivism, and a binding mechanism for a fossil fuel non-proliferation treaty.
Follow along for more updates.
The Williams NESE Pipeline is a threat to democracy. This Trump-era fossil fuel project was rejected multiple times because it’s unsafe, risky, unnecessary, expensive and overwhelmingly opposed by the people. Yet Gov. Kathy Hochul is now fast-tracking it, breaking New York’s own Climate Leadership & Community Protection Act and poisoning New Yorker’s waters. New Yorkers have spoken: we do not want this pipeline. Our laws demand a just, renewable future — not backroom deals for fossil fuels. #StopThePipeline #NoNESE #CLCPA #ClimateJustice #PeopleOverProfit #StopWilliamsNESE
⚡ New Yorkers, the clock is ticking! Governor Hochul still hasn’t signed the repeal of the 100-ft rule — a hidden *fossil fuel subsidy* that forces us all to pay for gas hookups instead of clean, affordable energy.
This repeal is a key part of the NY HEAT Act — and it’s crucial for cutting emissions, lowering bills, and protecting our future.
📞 Call or tag @GovKathyHochul today and urge her to sign the repeal NOW. Every day of delay costs us progress on climate justice.

BlackRock—one of the world’s leading investors in fossil fuels—is scared. Last week, NYC Comptroller Brad Lander recommended that we divest $42 Billion of NYC pension fund money with the asset manager due to their insistence in funding the destruction of our city and our future. This was due to years of work from our team and our partners.
Now, the NYC pension boards—made up of union leaders and elected officials—will meet next week to consider the proposals. The ball is in their court.
It’s time to tell them to put our future over fossil fuel profits.

BREAKING: Today, NYC Comptroller @brad.lander announced recommendations to end $42+ billion in investment with BlackRock, as it leads funding of fossil fuels across the globe. He also made recommendations to end all investments with Fidelity and Pan Agora over their failure to comply with the pension fund’s net zero standards.
If implemented by the other pension trustees made up of union leaders and other elected officials, this would be massive. BlackRock invests over $400 billion worldwide in the fossil fuel industry, and New York City pension funds are what enable it. Put simply, BlackRock—and other managers like Fidelity and Pan Agora—have proven any dollar our city’s pension funds send to them destroys our city with raging climate disaster, weakens hard-won pension investments, and turns our future to fire by investing in worsening air and water, and by choking our communities.
It’s now time for our pension trustees to follow @nyccomptroller@brad.lander ’s lead and that of the countless community organizations who’ve been a part of this advocacy, and deliver truly fossil fuel-free pension funds aligned with the need to combat the current worsening climate crisis and aligned with the call for a livable and just future.
